The word psychic refers to an ability to know information that is hidden from others. There is a mystical quality to power of this nature. Psychic power can come in many guises such as Clairvoyance, Faith Healing, Remote Viewing, Telepathy, Tarot reading and Phycometry. Psychics are believed to have a vision of the future. Some people believe that psychic powers can be grown or enhanced by study and practice of intense concentration or meditation. Books and websites are dedicated to training and instruction in many psychic methods.

  • Clairvoyance: Ability to use a ‘sixth’ sense.
  • Faith Healing; Ability to cure by beliefs allied to tactile methods
  • Remote Viewing: Seeing events far removed from the physical location
  • Telepathy: Mind to Mind thought transfer
  • Phycometry: Tactile, to know an objects past by touching it

The seventh son of a seventh son is believed to have special psychic power. Another belief is that psychic ability is hereditary, from parent to child directly But also, that it can skip generations and then appear in new generations, with a non-psychic parent passing on abilities, they did not know they had, to their children. It can also denote an ability of the mind to influence the world physically like bending metal with just the power of ones mind.

Tarot card readers have the ability to read thoughts and are capable of mind reading and predicting the future. The tarot pack is a pack of 78 cards. Tarot card reading is linked to the phychic, which seems to some people to be connected with the Occult and devil worshiping. A book usually comes with a new pack of Tarot cards will help a phychic to understand the meanings of the card combinations but it is all subjective and should be read with caution in mind.Living your life by predictions of any kind could be dangerous and is not recommended. Physic meanings can be interpreted in many ways and use of these cards should be for recreation and fun.

Brief Psychic History

Fortune telling dates back to ancient times. Years ago psychics were otherwise known as peers and prophets. Earliest beliefs concerned astrology and the study of the planets and the influence the planets had on a particular individual. The time and date of birth is referenced by the positioning of the planets. The subsequent planet movements and interactions can provide a map of life or a mirroring of a person’s moods and decision making process. Fortune telling in European countries was considered sinful for many centuries and religious orders opposed the practice. Some still frown on the practice.

A lot of fiction novels have been written that contain elements of psychic phenomenon that are convincing and make for enjoyable reading. Many movies, too, explore the psychic. A good example from 1999 is “Sixth Sense” where a young boy is able to communicate with the dead. Another Bruce Willis film called ‘Unbreakable’ explores the main character’s dawning realization that he possesses a strange human ability or psychic power.
