Publish your Story in a Hard Copy.

I found a great way to preserve my favorite life stories. I'm using a publishing program to put my stories, my photos & my own little personal art work into the finished project. The book is then hard bound, library stitched and shipped off to me for... get this...only $35!

I found this little gem while browsing for Christmas gifts a few years back. I was looking for something sentimental, original & yet personalized. I hit the jackpot!

Here's the basics of what you get for your $35.

  • Free use of the software
  • 5x5 hard cover book
  • 21 full color pages
  • Upload unlimited photos per page

If you want to use the publishers expanded selection of graphics, (over 20,000 graphics) They charge $20 for a 30 day period. So basically, you might want to compile enough stories to fill a few books, then buy the $20 artwork package if you want to use the larger selection of graphics. Otherwise, just use your own at no charge.

If you want to add extra pages to your book, it's just .99 per page. You can actually print up to 100 pages per book, but the $35 includes the first 21 pages. I've used this service for a few years now & I'm absolutely thrilled with the quality.

I've made “yearbooks” for each of my kids. I start with January & end with Christmas. I've been including all of their sports & events from the entire year. This is a much easier & cost effective alternative to a scrap book. I simply upload their photos & type a synopsis of what happened that month.

There's no time wasted and the process in environmentally friendly. No wasted paper, supplies, etc.

These books also make gift-giving a real treat. Isn't it fun to give someone a gift that they're truly excited about? My parents get a compiled version of all of my kids books, so they have their own little 'brag book' of their grandkids.

I'm a hard-core photography nut, my kids think I'm the paparazzi. I don't go anywhere without a camera. My philosophy is, if it's worth doing, it's worth remembering. What better way to remember those moments than to have your very own life story published?

Here's a link to the publishers site. Enjoy! www.HeritageMakers.com/304126

Wednesday! Why don't you publish a hub with some of your photography?!?!? I'd love to see them!

I can't think about the book thing. It just stresses me out about the hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of scrapbooking stuff I have in my playroom.....

Does seem much easier, though.

Quick Fix Proud Mama, sell it!

Just get it out of there. I was in the same situation as you. A decades worth of cutters, pens, stickers & tape. I hadn't touched it in years. Not because I didn't enjoy scrapbooking, I just dreaded getting all of the required "tools" out & having to organize them before I could begin. It could take hours just preparing myself for the big event.

Then once I had it all out...I had to force myself to continue on FOR DAYS to make it worth the effort on unpacking it all. Hobbies aren't supposed to be that difficult, are they?

Cool idea W.M. My wife loves to take pictures but rarely finds time to do anything with them. I finally bought a portable hard drive so I just keep them all on that. It would be nice to make the books for the kids though.

Jim, The books are a big hit. For the money, they can't be beat. I've published a ton of coffee table books for my own children, but also for nieces & nephews as graduation & wedding gifts. They're really unique & make a great hand-me-down for future generations.

Have fun with it!

Thanks for sharing the info Wednesday Morning. I too have tons of scrapbook stuff around and it is such a pain to drag it out and then just have to put it away in a few days....way too much trouble. I'll be having a yard sale as soon as the weather warms up - lots of good scrapping stuff available! LOL
