Punching Tips
695 Tips to increase punching ability
Ok so you want to be able to hit harder?
The first question and warning is that its obviously not a good idea to hit anyone in the first place? Absolutely not! The only way fighting is justified is within regulated boxing and sports such as martial arts.
However if you must, here are 5 ways to hit harder and more effectively.
- Don't take a wild swinging haymaker punch with all your momentum behind. Is it likely to do damage if you land?Yes. BUT : A quick opponent will see it coming and counter punch you when you are defenceless. You want to hit straight through the opponent, that way you have a much better chance of making contact if they try and move.
- Tight first, very simple but you want to keep a tight grip, this is to protect damage to you more than anything, whilst giving greater damage if landing.
- Whilst this may sound a little contradictory to number one, you need to use your body and kinetics to your advantage, weighting, twisting and using you legs can make a huge difference to the landing effect of your punches. This really needs a section by itself to be fully demonstrated, which will come later.
- Whilst aiming for head is common, body punches can be very effective if used correctly. You want to hit inwards whilst using your body's turning action to leverage power and thrust, creating maximum impact.
- Press ups are a great way to build up upper body strength without using gym equipment. They can be done anywhere easily and build up mass immediately allowing power to created in your arms. Aim to do this daily. There are many other more advanced exercises that can be done but this is a good one to start off with. Aim to build up your repetitions daily.
These are 5 quick tips to increase your punching ability, once again, the last thing you want to do is use these tips to hurt innocent people. If there is no way out though, they may just help you to defend yourself that bit better. Numbers 1,3 and 5 need to be looked into in more depth to get full understanding and effect.
