Pure Skin Care
There’s just not enough trustworthy information about this subject as far as I’m concerned!
With countless toxins invading our outside air space, homes, and offices, could organic Pure Skin Care be our body’s best defense against these invasive attacks? Switching to organic personal care products is one line of defense that can protect your body from unnecessary exposure to hundreds of known and suspected toxic substances.
Natural skin care products that incorporate plant-based extracts provide you with healthy alternatives to harsh, synthetic chemicals so you can clean and moisturize your skin in true eco-beauty style.
We’ve all heard it before, I’m sure, that our skin is the human body's largest organ and its porousness is one of its primary functional features. The permeability of human skin helps to regulate the body’s internal temperature, and this feature also allows for absorption of ultraviolet rays from the sun, which are then converted into nutrients the body can use.
This great ability that skin has to absorb external substances and pass them to the body's inside can also work to the detriment of our health—many popular brands of skin care and body care products contain toxic, hazardous chemicals that pass into the body through our skin.
Did you know that the U.S. cosmetic industry has been primarily self-regulated since 1938? Manufacturers of personal care products are not subject to federal review or approval before marketing their products to the public. Out of approximately 10,500 (holy moly!) chemicals used in personal care products, only 11% are tested and assessed for health and safety! Many of these chemicals are widely known to be highly toxic and are still used as standard product ingredients. Now that's just pathetic!
Yet we still continue to buy these harmful products. Why? Price mostly. So, what can we do to change our way of thinking to begin to care enough for our bodies?
Well, start with a little research. And as you research for pure skin care products, you should know that there are no FDA regulations that govern even the natural or organic options for personal care items.
This means that some products will advertise as natural and organic, though they may still contain dangerous chemicals. Doesn’t that just infuriate you? Sure does me!
Here are 2 things you can do to start living a longer, healthier life.
1) To know beyond a shadow of a doubt whether or not your skin care products are safe, visit the Environmental Working Group Skin Deep Data Base. It's an independent organization that reports on the toxicity of ingredients used in personal care products. Each product has been given a hazard rating from 0 to 10, with 0 being the safest and 10 being the most dangerous level of toxicity.
2) As you find products and companies that have ratings of 0, get yourself a sample set of that Pure Skin Care to try out. It might cost a little something, but you'll definitely know what you've bought is safe.
So next time, think twice before you choose the cheap brand. Think about a longer, healthier life. Think about organic pure skin care products. It's never too late to start.
