Clinical Considerations:The role of dietary management in feline heart disease is to provide a proper balance of total nutrients while meeting the special dietary needs of the patient. Feeding controlled levels of key nutrients may reduce the workload on the heart while meeting the nutritional needs of the animal. Because heart failure may compromise other internal organs such as kidneys, gastrointestinal tract and liver, it is also important to provide a highly digestible, easily metabolized diet which the patient will readily consume. Extra Information:

Medical Indications

Diets with these nutritional modifications have been recommended for cats with the following conditions:

Congestive heart failure

Hypertension

Fluid retention such as ascites and edema

Feline hepatic lipidosis

Critical care management of cats and dogs

Convalescence/Critical Care

Purina Veterinary Diets® CV CardioVascular® brand Feline Formula is appropriate for use in both cats and dogs during treatment for and/or recovery from serious illness. The higher levels of protein, fat and calories provide the nutritional support necessary for healing and recovery. Its high palatability helps overcome anorexia often associated with illness. The product can be fed as is for animals able to eat or diluted and blenderized for enteral feeding.

This review is very unhelpful. Calling something "pretty much junk" and adding no other real comments is short and clearly negative, but does not provide any helpful additional information. My cat has been on this diet for 7+ years because of heart and kidney problems. I certainly understand that corn is less than desireable, What are the other problems with it that make it "junk" and why are they important.
