My dog began scratching almost as soon as she began this dog food. Once I began using a dog food with little or no corn in the contents the itching seemed to stop. Susan Peters and Odie. This product couldn't even make one out of ten. Boo, Hiss!

there is a lot more info you could give , like an ingredient list. soy corn and wheat are the 3 things dogs ar most allergic to. brewers rice or white rice is not as good as brown rice. animalf fat, poultry fat is wide range of animals and fowl. it would be better toshow type of aninal fat ie beef fat and for poultry chicken fat. animal fat and poultryfat can be most anything. type of preservatives would also be good to know.does the company do splitting. for example a lamb and rice diet, the ingredient list shows lamb, rice, rie flour, rice gluten. lamb is supposed to be the main ingredient but now the rice out weighs the lamb. ita a lrice diet not a lamb diet that your feeding.

Our beautiful dog karma had a broken shoulder while at the vet they fed her wet food which we never feed our dogs within four days our dog was dead i truly beleive our dog was poisened by the food she had all the symptoms drinking alot of water kidney failure etc. the food they fed her is on the recall list beyond being highly upset over this i miss my dog very much she was an importment part of my life. be careful of our own food the fda lies to us too! think of how many recalls there have been on our human food sources. we need to grow our oun food in this country for our own consumption and stop importing food from other sources that are not goverened by our standards which should not be overlooked because of big business needing to collect that god almighty dollar when is our government going to stop selling us out???

I know how much my pets mean to me. They are my children. My bull-mastiff will eat anything so I am very lucky with dog food. Since she does not get along well with by-products found in food, I am feeding both my pets the premium food. Diamond is an excellent brand with no by-products and is half the price of all the others. I have moved out of the usa to japan, and the only food I will give them is science diet (dry). They are all healthy and have had no effects from the food. My family has used the science diet brand for years with no problems. Its seems that this problem occurred last year and it was hidden from the consumer. My prayers are with you and your pets.

Deb  says:

I am repeating the same question Lisa asked. My dog too eats Purina Beneful original dry dog food. Is is a safe choice? I haven't seen it on a recall list yet.

Check out my above mentioned link for the recall list. Beneful is Not on the recall list ... but doesn't do very well in the reviews.

Kinda stumbled upon your site, saw the comments about Beneful..Anyone with ?s should check out Doggybling.com Beneful has not been recalled, but they've been building a case since January that it should be. They have tried to get Purina to recall it, to no avail. They feel it has been responsible for pet deaths/illnesses.

Disgusted about Dog Foods!  says:

One of our dogs was throwing up sometimes from the beneful and then the other dog developed a food allergy so we switched from the beneful and they both are doing much better. This was after we had a major problem with the kibbles and bits then switched to beneful so now we're trying the Purina One. If they get sick again from the food I may start feeding them food that I make myself so that I'll have some idea about what's in it! The animal digest is the one thing I wish they would remove from all of the dog food. Look it up to see what it is and you'll be disgusted with the foods we're feeding our pets. Just noticed tonight that even the Purina One has it. Ugh.

Disgusted,

Each of the foods you mentioned have a Class Action filed against them for so many pet deaths. You are right, Ugh!!

My dog started to throw up and have seizures during the time he was eating Purina beneful.why all of this began to happen he stopped eating the food. Why are these certain things happening?

Caty,

I hope you can correct this problem before it is too late. Start feeding yogart to your dog. Get your dog's health stable then cook a homecooked meal for him. Nothing from a package. Fix some burger or steak with some rice. Provide plenty of water.

God Bless. Please let me know how it goes.

Tracy,

Please read the suggestion to Caty.  The reason this is all happening is because Beneful is poison to our pets.

When selecting a dog food make sure it does NOT contain, corn, wheat, or soy. These grains are toxic to our pets. These toxic grains are included in the making of pet food only to save the pet food producer money... not to provide a healthy diet for our pets.

Corn, Wheat, and Soy are Pet KILLERS.

We had always fed our 7 year Boston Terrier and our 9 month Boxers science diet with no problems, we change our dogfood to beneful and our dogs became real sick we took the boston to the vet and he had quit eating lost all of his weight he had a stroke, throwing up, kidney failure, heart problems you name it he had it needless to say we had to have him put to sleep. When i noticed the 9 month old boxer down i had no time to get her to the vet she was down and having seizures she passed on before i could get to her. We don't have any dogs left. We miss our babies and it's sicking that bene dog posion is still on the market. We need to file a class action against them.

Martha,

I am so sorry about your dogs and all you have been through. Beneful does have a class action filed against the company for false advertising.

I have recently switched to exclusive chicken and rice large breed puppy formula for my 3 month old black lab. I just wanted to be assured that i am not feeding my dog "poison".I would be devastated if my lil guy had to go through bad health issues due to my lack of understanding the differences in all of the dog foods. I really wanna feed him a good quality food for a good price. I would love to hear your input and reccomendations if you feel this food is no good. And if there is any home recipes you may know of that will give him the vitamins an minerals and protein he needs to be a big strong dog. Thank you very very much.

Sodium Selenite is a food additive listed in US MSDS hazardous materials data sheets. This category is the same class of substance in which Sulfuric Acid, Arsenic (rat poison), and Cyanide (suicide pills) can be found. Purina claims sodium selenite as a source of selenium. Much like sulfuric acid is a natural source of sulfur.

Avoid Purina. This poison is used to prevent rot and extends shelf life of product...used in cattle feed. Only seven or eight parts per million causes constipation, cataracts in rats, arthritis, and lethargy. Good stuff, huh?!!
