Purina Cat Chow Cat Food Review:

I'm not asking for that much. This cat food product can't even make a single point out of ten on it's own merit but only on the fact Purina decided not to have any Cat Chow recalled.

Let's take a look at these ingredients. (Hold on to your hat - this is going to hurt!)

We start with poultry by-product meal as the first ingredient. Poultry could be chicken or turkey but not one in particular. By-products are floor sweepings collected from a rendering plant. Anything that hits the floor and is not fit for human consumption is by-product. By-products can't have "added" feathers but the ones included in the mess are just fine. Meal meas the floor sweepings have had the water removed and the feathers, poultry poo, whatever has hit the floor is now concentrated.

Ground yellow corn and corn gluten meal are cheap fillers used by pet food companies to reduce production costs. Gluten is a super concentrated mix as is meal. So the corn is this batch is actually at least 5 times the amount listed.

We should probably take time out from this review to remind ourselves of the good and bad effects of corn in a cat or dog's diet. *Corn, wheat and soy are resonsible for fever, ear aches, ear infections, bad bread, dental disease, hair loss, dry and itchy skin, bloat, tumors, warts, moles, abnormal nail growth, arthritis, deafness, blindness, digestive problems, inflamed liver, inflamed kidneys, bladder problems, heart problems, and death. Oh yeah, for the good effects of corn - reduces the cost of pet food production.

Brewer's rice and brewer's dried yeast are by-products of beer production. There you go, you little kitty gets what's left over after a beer run, the stuff not fit for human consumption.

You thought I was about done with this review, didn't you? Nope, I'm not going to end the review as of yet, not without telling you about the manure Purina decided to include in the pet food for your kitty. Animal digest. How about that ... we don't even know from which animal the digested tissue came from. If Purina wanted us to know our pets were eating beef poop Purina would say "Beef digest". Since Purina chose to say "animal" the animal can be anything from dog, cat, rat, road kill or whatever. AAFCO doesn't care that manure is included in the pet food as long as the temperature at the time of cooking is brought to a certain degree.

I could go on but the rest of the ingredients seem rather pointless to review after we have made the discovery of what horrific ingredients Purina has already used to make Cat Chow Cat Food and we are only 1/3 of the way through the cat food ingredients.

I wouldn't buy this >*@ stuff!

Some people found out what a poor cat food Purina Cat Chow is a little too late. Those people and others who are upset over Purina making such a poor quality cat food has filed a Class Action against Purina Cat Chow.
