Plus 1/2 point = beef and bone meal

Total Score = 1/2-10

The label isn't really clear as to what makes up the contents of this product. I don't feel like Purina is being honest in what percentage of beef is actually in this dog food. Oooo, I hate to see "beef and bone meal" used as one statement. We don't know how much of which was actually used. Hmmm 1/2 point for the entire review.

Do you have another dog or cat food you would like to have tested? Please submit a comment and I'll check it out.

Harvin,

I have not been able to locate the beef formula ingredient list so I wrote a review on the chicken flavor http://hubpages.com/hub/Pro-Plan-Puppy-Chicken--Ri

It's amazing what a low score you gave this food. I have a friend that has been using nothing but the Hi Pro, and has had Bloodhounds who lived to be over 14 years old. She has a German Shorthaired Pointer puppy from me which I saw yesterday, and she has a beautiful coat and very healthy. Her other dog was almost 15. I have know people who have their dogs on expensive "holistic" foods, and their dogs died at 8 or 9.

Jean, I totally agree; my Lab lived for 14 years on HiPro. I guess some of these posts would rather have their dogs live less on more expensive food.

Since Purina HiPro has been discontinued. We have been using Anirup HiPro. This is the closest food we can find to the Purina HiPro that we used for decades. Anirup really got this one right!

Purina HiPro is no longer available. Anirup has filled the void and created a product that is as close as you can get.
