Quality Content Guide
64Content, As They Say, Is King
If you write articles online for any of the online publishers (such as HubPages) or for your own blogs or any other websites, you have doubtless heard the saying “Content is king.” The idea behind this little saying is that no matter what you are writing and why, your work needs to be informative, well written and useful in some way to the reader.
It’s a great idea, this notion that we should all be providing what Internet Marketers and other web gurus describe as “quality content.” But opinions differ as to what actually constitutes content that is of high quality. This is partly because the reading of other people’s writing is such a subjective experience.

Solving Your Reader's Problems with Your Content
For example, some readers might click on a certain article, read said article, and feel that the reading experience was exactly what they had been seeking. The article answered whatever questions they may have had on a certain topic, or they felt like they learned something new upon reading it. Such readers would deem the article a good example of quality content.
On the other hand, another group of readers might visit this same article or website and find the content to be sorely lacking. They may feel that their questions have not been answered. They may even suspect (or know for a fact) that some of the article’s content is actually incorrect from a factual standpoint.
Mastering the Basics First
Producing quality content for websites is all about mastering the basics. For starters, quality content must be well researched. If you need to cite statistics and studies in order to back up what you are saying in your article, do so, because professional citations can only strengthen your argument.
Proofread your work. Whenever possible, you might also want to ask someone else to proofread your work to check for factual correctness as well as spelling and grammatical errors. Another set of eyes can help you determine if you have indeed written a piece of quality content.
Read Out Loud To Check The Flow of Your Writing
Read your work out loud prior to submitting it for publication. This is a great way to find out how well an article flows off the tongue. If you find yourself tripping over words, or if the phrasing of a particular sentence rings false when you are reading out loud, you will probably want to rewrite it until you like the way it flows.
Some people who run websites for a living opt to outsource nearly all of their writing. This is great for people who can afford it as long as they are able to find writers they can trust and who are able to produce piece after piece of….wait for it….quality content.
