Quartzsite, AZ
Last weekend we went to visit the Arizona desert and camped near Quartzsite. I took a lot of photos, and some of them were just crying out to have poetry to go with them. I've always loved cactus and succulents and it was great to study them in their native surroundings. My favorite is the saguaro, but I bet that is the favorite of many fans of the southwestern desert. I hope you enjoy the photos and the poetry.
Saguaros
Long desert shadows
Saguaros stretch out their arms
To dance with the stars
Ocotillo
Arizona Desert
Oh ocotillo
Porcupine of the desert
Not too close or ouch
Campfire
Camping
We sat side by side
Hand in hand by the campfire
The moon smiled on us
Three Fingered Saguaro
The Ancient One
Oh ancient watcher
Wise grandmother saguaro
How foolish is man?
Twin Saquaros
Twins
Standing side by side
Gatekeepers of the desert
Tall, proud, and prickly
cholla
Stand Offish
Your body language
Is quite clear on the matter
Admire me from afar
Time to go back to the city.
Goodbye for now

I love exploring Arizona, especially in the early spring when the weather is perfect and the cacti are in bloom. Quartzsite is a really cool place. I also love the Painted Desert.
