Quick Kitchen Decorating

If remodeling your entire kitchen is not an option, you can redo your kitchen décor and give it a brand new look without turning it into a several week project. A few deft changes in strategic places will not only update the look of your kitchen but will also increase the amount of working space you have.

If space is an issue for you, consider buying appliances that can be mounted on walls or affixed to the bottom of cupboards. Can openers, coffee makers and several other culinary appliances all come in styles that allow you to let them hang from under your cabinets thereby making space on your counters.

If new large appliances are in your plans, you will find a wide selection of appliances that are not only made to match with your kitchen but also to save on space. Stoves and ovens do not have to be the traditional cube anymore. A built in dishwasher can have a stovetop if you like and you can even put your oven above your countertop.

Appliances now come in most of the primary colors as well as the traditional creams and whites. If you are going for the modern look, stainless steel or black refrigerators, dishwashers and oven ranges are available. Would you rather hide your kitchen appliances? You can mount wooden “cabinetry” on your refrigerator to make it blend in with the surroundings.

Countertops

The fastest way to change the look of your kitchen is to install new countertops. If you do not want to tear out your cupboards, make sure you use countertops that match them or are willing to re-stain or paint your cupboards. The latest trends in kitchen counters are natural hardwood or stone or recycled materials made to resemble either one of those.

Flooring

What about your flooring? If the floor you have is in good condition and does not need to be replaced, just throwing down an area rug can brighten up the kitchen. Bamboo area rugs are not only a great look for a kitchen but is easier to take care of than a cloth rug. Unlike a cotton area rug that must be thrown in the wash or dry-cleaned, a bamboo area rug can be cleaned with a moist cloth. Windows

Change the look of your windows by substituting curtains for blinds or vice versa. Fresh paint on your window frames and sills will bring instant change as well.

Table Setting

If you have an eat-in kitchen and are happy with the table and chairs you already have, you can update the look by buying a new tablecloth and centerpiece and hanging a new chandelier above the table. It is amazing how decorating your dinner table can bring new life to your kitchen and make the meal much more enjoyable.

Summary
