When trying to lose weight, eating less food always gives people uneasy feelings. No one likes to feel deprived and when going on a diet, usually you feel this to some extent. Granted a good diet will allow room for foods that you enjoy but you simply cannot eat at your leisure and still expect to lose weight - especially if you happen to be one of those people who loves eating which we all know almost everyone is.

Luckily there are some simple ways you can slash extra calories from diet, quickly and painlessly.

1. Skip The Crust

When indulging in a pie or cheesecake, leave the crush on the plate. You likely won't even know it's missing and it'll save you at least 100 calories.

2. Blot Your Pizza

So you have a craving for pizza. Everyone gets this at some point or another. An easy trick to slash both calories and fat is to dab the top of it with a paper napkin before eating. When baked the cheese 'leaks' out extra oil that is often left on the surface. This is extra fat that you simply do not need nor will miss. So take care of it! It's that easy.

3. Use Sweetener In Your Coffee

Far too many people add in a few packets of sugar in their morning coffee without really thinking any differently. Over time these extra calories can really add up though. If you normally mix in 2 packets, that's 100 calories per day or a pound of extra body fat per month (assuming it's not burned off). Replace with sweetener and that's a pound of fat you lose per month!

4. Hollow Your Bagel

Scoop out the inside of your bagel to remove at least 100 calories. Bagels these days come in very large sizes, many of them 300 or more calories. By taking out the middle you are eliminating many of the unnecessary carbs. It'll leave more room for you to pack it with light filling options also.

5. Use Crystal Light Rather Than Juice

If you reach for juice when you're thirsty thinking your making a smart decision, think again. Loaded with simple sugars and lacking in fibre, there's over 100 calories in a cup of juice. If it's a fruit flavoured beverage you're looking for, opt for Crystal Light instead.

6. Remove The Skin

On any type of skinned meat you eat, if you can remove it you'll save close to 100 calories - even more if it's breaded. It may take a little extra time to do this but tastewise it's a fairly simply trade-off that will mean faster weight loss for you.

7. Replace Spaghetti Squash For Your Pasta

Rather than dishing up a heaping plate of pasta for dinner, use some spaghetti squash. At about 50 calories per cup compared with the 200 seen in pasta, you'll really be improving your overall calorie intake with this change.

So keep these in mind next time you are trying to lower your calories but don't want to cut out whole meals or snacks. With a few changes you can be well on your way to kick starting your weight loss again.
