They don't tell you everything.

I recently (as in April 8th) went out to look at some choices for a car (a fairly good conditioned used car.) and I looked at Ford dealerships and some others before I came across this used car lot;

R & B Car Company.

Now, at first, me and my mother and a friend were just riding around in our truck on the lot, looking at some of the cars, Until I came across a very nice looking car. Now, I got out of the truck and went to look at it. At first, I saw, No tags or a price, Which right away should of told me something but I was so mesmerized by the car that I had laid eyes on, that all I wanted to do was get it in and take it for a test drive.

So, My friend and my mother got out to look at it too. That's when one of the salesmen came out and asked us if we were looking to buy one. We told him no, that we were just looking, Well apparently, that didn't settle good with him because he wanted us to take it for a test drive.

Another thing that should of warned me was that;

1) There was no gas in the car to fully take it for a real test drive.

and

2) The guy let me, my mother, and our friend go for test drive, WITHOUT him in the car also.

So he's like "Well if you run out of gas, Call and we'll bring you some." and then on top of that, he wanted us to put five dollars of gas in the car (that we probably weren't going to end up buying.) and then get a receipt and then he'd give us five dollars back. Now, that made me abit suspicious, but the car ran good, it drove good.

So then we brought it back from the test drive, and he asked what we thought of it, we told him "It runs good." and then he proceeded to ask if we were going to buy it, We told him "We didn't know just yet. We're just looking."

That triggered the madness, He said, "Well let's go get a quote and see if you could purchase this car." So we're all like, "Okay, we'll just see."

Oh yea, we'll see alright. We ended up sitting there for nearly 5 hours at the car company, discussing and doing everything imaginable to try and make this a good deal. Again, He would not take no for an answer. And that really ticked me off because we told him, from the beginning that we were just looking.

In the end, we ended up buying the said vehicle. We brought it home and noticed that some of the lights didn't work (example; rear brake light and both headlights.) and the CD player that was in the car did not work either. So we took it back to the Car Company and he told us to take it to the Firestone down the road to have the lights fixed and that he'd pay for the repairs.

We did. We got the lights fixed but Firestone couldn't fix the CD player, so he said to take it to Cartronix. Again, we did.

But then, The guy from R&B didn't want to pay Cartronix for the repair on the CD player, so we went to yet another repair company. So the second repair company, replaced the CD Player (Which cost the R&B car company over $200 dollars, Which me and my mother were very pleased with, seeing as they gave us a big bull from the beginning.)

And then, The guy promised to get us a Owner's Manual for the car, He didn't. I still have yet to see him buy us an owner's manual. We had to buy one ourselves.

Then, For not making sure everything was working, He offered to pay the first payment on the car. We (of course) practically said, "You damn right you will." Not really, but all three of us, were probably thinking the same thing.

When we went to Firestone, The guy there, (Who I happen to like very much, because he doesn't give you the run around and he actually tells you what has been done on the car.) told us that there was things that we weren't told was done to the car BEFORE buying it.

Naturally, We brought that up to the guy at the car company and he told us that the reason he didn't know, was because they don't do the work. I thought that was total bull the minute it came out of his mouth.

Then, just the other night, we went through all the papers that was given and found out that there was something that we told him we didn't want in the contract, (all three of us did.) and yet, the guy from R&B still put it in the contract.

So we went back to the company and told the guy about it, He got all defensive saying we called him a liar because he didn't say what was done to the car before we bought it. (which we did call him a liar, because he really didn't tell us.)

and then he went on about how I wanted to take him out back and beat his ass, which, again, I really did tell him that, BUT, I did not tell him I wanted to take him out back, I wanted to beat his ass out in the front, so everyone could see.

Because, I'm a woman that is very opinionated and I really don't like it when men think they can push me around just because I'm a girl.

And the fact that he pretty much called my mother a liar, saying that she didn't have to sign the contract and everything else. That was a lie, because he didn't go through everything with any of us, he just basically said, "Oh hey, here's the contract, sign it and then I'll tell you everything." And you could imagine my reaction to that. I nearly blew my top.

Anyway, He told us, that we'd have to come back when the boss was in and he'd see if he could get that thing that was in the contract, taken out, because we didn't want it. (And again, we, meaning all three of us, told him, that we did not want it.)

What I'm trying to get across is, Do not ever buy a car from a used car lot named "R & B Car Company." And if you do, make sure to read every inch of everything.

Do not, be fooled by anyone.

And if you have any problems on any car, and you live by a Firestone, Take it to them. They are professionals and they know exactly what they are doing.

This is from very recent experience.

**UPDATE!: So today (April 24th.) Me, My mother and our friend went back to R&B car company to have the warranty taken out of the contract. We pulled up and the guy (His name is Larry.) stepped out, when he saw us and we stood by the car to talk for abit.

Well, some kid, I don't know if he was buying a car or what, came up to the guy we bought the car from and just stood there, listening to our conversation. Now, I was about to full out blow my top and ask him, "Do you mind?! We're having a PRIVATE discussion here!" but I held my tongue, because the guy from the company stepped in.

I felt like, it was none of his business, (Which it wasn't.) but he showed up, just when the guy from the company and our friend decided to raise their voices. Like Larry need some kind of backup. Mind you, This guy was a skinny, short, idiot and I could of taken him. Plus, it was three (me, my mother and our friend.) against two (The car salesman and the kid who couldn't mind his own damn business), that kinda shows you who would win.

Anyway, My mother finally decided it was time to talk in private after that same guy sat on the bench nearly 10 feet away from us and continued to stare and listen to our conversation. So My mom and our friend walked into the building while I got the papers needed out of the car.

Well, after I did that and set the alarm on the car and about to walk into the building, That same guy that was sitting on the bench said, "Hey, That's a nice color." and I knew, that if I would of said something and something would of happened, my mother would of jumped down my throat so I just looked at him, nodded and said "Mhm." then walked into the building and into the office that everyone was in.

So we sat in the office and talked, and now, suppossedly, the guy is going to take the warranty off the contract and we get the money back, but he won't pay the first payment, because by paying to replace the CD player and repair the lights, they used all the profit that got from selling the car.

He lied, because now, he said that he won't buy us a owner's manual (nor will he reimburse my mother for the price she paid to get one.) BECAUSE, in order to get one, he needs to have another car, (the exact replica of my car) on the lot before he can get one.

To me, this guy is full of it. I've been to many dealerships but this is the first time that I've really noticed how full of bull these pushy sales-people really are.

So my suggestion; Don't buy a car from R&B Car Company.

WOW, Very suprised to hear this. My whole family has purchased vehicles from this company over the last 6-yrs and we have never had an experience like this. They have always been there to give me discounts on anything like tires, brakes and other normal maintance parts through their corporate discounts. My family is very pleased with this company along with a lot of my friends. They rank in the nations top 10 independent dealers, now that's something to brag about but never even mentioned it to any of my family or friends to help sell us a vehicle. I had to read it on their wall. All around very impressed with this said dealership and will continue to send friends and family members to them. I guess this goes to show you, and I know this as a business owner myself, you can no way make everyone happy no matter what you do for them.

I have purchased several cars from this compay and cannot believe the odacity of some people. If you do not feel good about a salesman...dont blame the whole company....get to a manger...and file a complaint...I'm sure the manager will do what needs to be done. For the record I called the comapany and there isn't a salesman named Larry working at any of the stores. The Manager I talked to has been with the company in South Bend In. for several years and cannot recall any slaesmen with the first name Larry.
