RC Plane building is a skill

RC Plane building is a skill that can be very rewarding. Building a flying machine is a skill that most people do not have, but if you have the time and a little knowledge anyone can build a RC plane. It helps to have adequate sanding tools and materials. RC airplanes are often made of Balsa wood but can also be made of basswood, spruce, and even pine wood. These woods would make an RC plane durable. Balsa wood is another building material witch is easier to use and lightweight, Balsa wood is in most of today's RC plane Building. Balsa wood could be carved easily with standard woodworking tools and bent into a number of shapes without sacrificing strength.

Composite Materials used in RC Plane Building

Composite materials are also widely used Fiberglass and carbon fiber they are used for there strength and used in the joints and construction where the plane is susceptible to stress of aerobatics and flying. Carbon fiber and aluminum are very strong and light and often used on the frame and fuselage. The tools need to build an RC airplane can be purchased at any local hardware store and include small screwdriver pliers and glue or silicone that is made for model airplanes. Any RC airplane that you build is only as good as it's parts, construction and materials used. When RC plane building you must take the time to learn and find materials that will last and stand up to the demands of flying.

If RC plane Building from scatch is not for you

I understand. Thank heavens there are RC airplane kits that are called ARF also known as almost ready to fly kits. These are RC airplane kits that are mostly built at the factory but not complete. They come in a variety of airplane types:

  • Biplanes
  • Gliders
  • Jets

They can be powered by either gas or electric. Depending on the manufacturer most come fully covered and come with all the parts needed. You might need to put the radio gear, fuel tank, motor and landing on the airplane but instructions make it easy. ARF RC plane building is made simple and can be built in a few hours time and would be a perfect hobby for a father and son. The reward for you time and energy of building the RC airplane comes when you get it up in the air and are able to fly with the birds. Chances are you will feel like a kid again. You can find these RC plane building kits at most hobby stores I like to shop online at Hobbytron.com they are less expensive and give you good customer service. I have also come across a good book if you are interested in building a RC plane you can find it at Model-Airplane-Secrets. this book has allot of good info on building a model RC airplane and cover everything from basic to advanced strategies. It also covers

  • The history of model airplanes
  • How to get started with model airplanes
  • Five ways to go from beginner
  • How to avoid crashes
  • What size engine to use
  • 11 flying tips

I found it very informative and would recommend it to anyone wanting to start a hobby flying RC airplanes. I hope you have found this info useful I will be writing more on this fun hobby in the weeks to come. Come join us at Bestrckits.com for more info and ideas on this great hobby.

I looked at a couple of your other hubs, and I have to say that I enjoyed this one the most by far. It seems that this is something you have a passion for, and it shows in how nicely this flowed for you. I would enjoy reading more from you - especially about this subject. In my humble (and semi hub newbie) opinion, writing about things that you enjoy this much will help you to be successful. I totally believe you as an authority on RC Planes (I'm sold). :)
