THE RCA COVERTE BOX IS ONE OF THE BEST ON THE MARKET ITS PERFOMANCE MAKES IT VERY VALUABLE IN FACT IAM LOOKING FOR A COMPANY THAT SELLS SO I CAN BUY ANOTHER BOX I HAVE 3 NOW AND NEVER GOT ANY PROBLEMS .........

wow I've been searching for RCA DTA800B1 converter box answers for a glitch we have with ours that drives us mad. We've owned it for over a year. We have a 4 yr old Sony TV. Recently we get a black 3/4 screen pop up with a series of white x's or other nonsensical writing at the top of the black box on the screen. Happens randomly but more at night and more during commercials. The only way to get rid of it is to constantly turn off the system. I have restored to factory default...no help. It looks like something to do with the CC, which we don't use. But why would CC cover most of the screen? All in all I have been sorely disappointed in digital TV and the new equipment that goes with it. Anyhoo.....got any clues or is this converter box just a piece of sh--?
