RC cars are without question the best gift a boy could ever receive.  I will tell you a little story about the first RC car I ever got.  I was about 8 years old when my family decided to visit my mother’s relatives in Indianapolis for Christmas.  Christmas morning we unwrapped all of our presents and my grandmother had given me a remote control car. This was a very long time ago and no one in my family had ever seen a remote control anything before so everyone was very excited.  There weren’t any rechargeable batteries back then so my father and I went to the store and bout batteries for it.  When we got back to my grandmothers house I was way past ready to play with my new toy.

It didn’t exactly work out like that though because my uncles and father also decided they needed to test drive the new toy, so we took it outside and they all took turns running it up and down the street.  Of course being 8 years old I was annoying the crap out of them to let me play too.  Well they weren’t having any of it so they just kept on playing and taking turns until the batteries went dead.  This time my uncle and I went to the store and bought a bunch of batteries so we could play all day.  But give me a break they were torturing me by not letting me play with my brand new toy.

We got back to the house and loaded new batteries and they all took another turn.  After what seemed like hours they finally relented and gave me the controller.  I started my turn when one of my grandmother neighbors drove down the street in a Jeep going home.  I pulled the car to the side of the road but must have panicked right when the Jeep got next to the car.  I backed up right under the wheels of the Jeep and my new car got crushed.  The car had a few hours of use on it before its demise but I got to play with it for a grand total of about 30 seconds.

Undeterred I have had lot’s of RC cars since then and they remain one of my favorite things in the world.  There really is no better toy that I can think of and today’s cars with their rechargeable batteries and strong engines are more fun than ever.  I found a great source with super cheap pricing on RC cars at electronics com.
