62Why the rush to bankrupt America
Health Care vs Obama Care
It should not be so difficult
or complicated,
or expensive!
Is our Health Care system
Broken beyond repair or
simply in need of some
fine tuning?
I will attempt to resolve
some of the problems
by applying a little KISS to it!
What the hell is KISS, you ask? ans: 'KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID'
While we currently are in the throes of the costly Obama Care(less) debate,
I have given some thought to the idea of just taking a step by step approach.
If we are truly concerned about the health of the American People, and I know
this will piss off a lot of folks but my number one step is
PUT A STOP TO THE CIGARETTE LOBBY AND BAN CIGARETTE SMOKING!
Now this could be bad news for a lot of politicians, since they depend on the
Cigarette lobbyist for a great deal of their bribes (donations).
It would also be destructive to farmers and the entire Cigarette industry.
Most important to our Government, it could considerably disrupt Tax Revenue.
Well it would be a big step for the usual politicians, but the current crop of
representatives led by Obama certainly have proven they have little regard for
the corporate welfare of America by taking over General Motors.
The last drawback I see to a total ban on cigarettes is the possibility of
adding 5-10 years, on the average, to adult life expectancy.
The Obama Care(less) plan specifically does everything short of
euthanasia to deter prolonged life for our elderly.
Now I don't want to let the cat out of the bag and I have more suggestions
for fixing rather than overhauling the current Health system.
The main thing is our legislators need slow down, go play golf, go fishing
and above all go talk to the people they were elected to represent.
Obama did not create the Health care and Insurance problems we are
facing today. It has taken many years of Government interference,
personal irresponsibility and freeloader mentality to get where we are today.
The sudden RUSH to invoke the costly Obama Care(less)
health care should set off a red flag to any thinking person.
My plan actually is a 20 year plan, paid for without breaking the bank,
(OK they already did that but why add to it) and I will detail the
second step (REAL HealthCare Solutions 102), within a day.
No RUSH, just hang in there.
A side-note on CIGARETTES.
I can already hear the moaning and groaning about
YOUR RIGHT TO KILL YOURSELF with CIGARETTES.
Yes you can and do have that right, but how many times have you smokers
said "I wish I could stop", "I want to quit",
"I know it is bad for my health and those around me"?
Think about it, other than your right to kill yourself, what do you stand to lose?
Saving that $5.00 you throw away on CIGARETTES, might leave you enough
money to buy some affordable health care insurance.
I don't believe anything in Obama Care(less) addresses the healthcare problems
of smokers, but he does go after the diet problems associated with fatty foods.
Go figure!
Could our President who claims he has stopped smoking still light up?
If you check out the new book "In the Presidents Secret Service"
there is a snippet about Obama smoking in the West Wing as well
as outside the White House Grounds.
Of course he will deny it, but who you gonna believe?

jiberish, thanks and I wish you luck kicking the habit.
I promise the next step in my Health care play will not be
so painful...
Great job! I quit smoking two years ago and now I can't even stand the smell of one on some one's clothes. I can't , for the life of me, remember why I picked up smoking to begin with, but I'm certainly glad I was able to put them down. Looking forward to part 2!
I loved your take on this.
Typical Progressive thought; ban something you disagree with.
Obviously the government knows better than the individual!
Smoking is stupid and unhealthy, but we have the constitutional right to do stupid and unhealthy stuff.
nicomp, this is a touchy subject, it is like gun ownership, just because guns can kill should they be banned. Smoking on the other hand is disgusting if you have to sit near someone who even smokes, they STINK, but the truth is the bad habit does add to our excessive Health Care costs. If I had to choose between Government run HC or ban smoking, "ban" wins.. If the Government runs smoking ban enforcement as well as well as illegal Immigration, smokers need not worry about their right to smoke, (everyone does it attitude) Thanks for your feedback..
No, it's not touchy. Politically it's cut and dried. I hate smoking more than you do; I'm allergic, it makes me ill, it stinks, it's unhealthy and every American of legal age should have the right to smoke or not smoke. Conservatism is not big government. Conservatism is self-determination; kill yourself smoking if you like.

GreatAmerican, I love reading your HUBS, you just say it like it is. A side note on Cigs, at this point I wish they would just ban them, I've been trying to quit every which way, but loose. I have gone 24 hours, then I fall back. My father smoked for 30 yrs, then one day just threw them away, and never looked back. I wish I was as strong as he was, but then he's old school, from the old country, he came from a time when men actually had balls. Again, thanks for the lesson.
