"REDNECK" French Bread Pizza

“We made this a lot growing up. It was a family favorite. It’s easy to please kids with too. I think it’s a good recipe to teach at even a young age to get children interested in cooking. It’s pretty quick to put together and doesn’t require a lot of ingredients or time, and the best part, very little cleanup.”

Ingredients:

1 lb of ground beef or turkey

1 small can of tomato sauce

½ tsp oregano

¼ tsp basil

¼ tsp garlic powder

1 small can of sliced olives (optional)

1 small can of sliced mushrooms or a few fresh mushrooms (optional)

2-3 cups of favorite shredded cheese

1 loaf of fresh French bread

Directions:

Brown beef or turkey until cooked thoroughly, drain any grease than set aside.

Slice French bread horizontally in half and place on cookie sheet. Preheat oven to 350°. For the sauce, mix together in a small bowl, tomato sauce, oregano, basil & garlic. Spoon sauce evenly over the top of bread slices till mostly covered. Spoon meat over sauce, than olives and mushrooms. Lastly sprinkle generously with cheese. Place in preheated oven for approximately 10-15 minutes or until cheese has melted. Remove from oven and slice into pieces than serve.
