10 WAYS TO RELAX

1. LAUGH. Get a funny movie and kick back. You can also check out this link:

2. WALK ON THE BEACH. OK, or through the corn field, or in the mountains. This depends on your location.

3. GO SWIMMING. JUST DO IT.

4. A LONG, HOT BATH. Alone. You can't relax with someone else in there.

5. BICYCLE RIDE. Preferably in an area that does not have a great deal of busy intersections. The idea in all of these ideas is to avoid the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Pay more attention to elderly people tending gardens or sitting on porches. Ditch the cell phone.  Watch where you're going (I was once clotheslined by a mailbox...wasn't pretty).

6. SIT ON THE PORCH. Watch cars drive by and birds fly overhead. OK to zone out and visualize here.

7. PLAY WITH A PUPPY OR A BABY.

8. MAKE AMENDS WITH SOMEONE. Letting go of that stress you have pent up because of that longstanding feud will bring great relief.

9. PLAY MUSIC IN THE CAR. And sing. Loudly. Might want to keep the windows up if you sound like Alf Alfa, though.

10. PLANT A GARDEN. If you have a yard, you can do the whole gardening thing. Or you can have a "surprise garden," like me, and just sprinkle seeds everywhere and see what pops up. I have a lot of little plants growing everywhere. I have no idea what they are, but it is rewarding and relaxing to go out there and water them.

Well I guess I should have made a longer list than ten! It's hard to believe that there are so many ways to relax in this fast-paced society we live in. We really should take more time to stop and smell the roses.
