This Is A Serious Outfit!!

On The Road Again

Summer is here and most RV, Motorhome and Camper owners are already either on the road or planning their next trip. Can't wait? Just take a few moments, turn up your sound, and get yourself in the road trip mood.

I have collected some great videos for your enjoyment.

Do You Want Quiet ?

...Or Do You Want Lively?

Careful Planning Will Make Your Motorhome Vacation.

This is something that is ideally done over the winter months and is a pleasure in itself! Deciding where to take your RV can be a feast of opportunities. Where are we going? What route will we take? What will we see on the way? What will we experience when we get there? See it all unfolding in your mind's eye and the actual experience will be hightened. Get the maps out on the kitchen table and start to live your motorhome vacation long before you set off on your journey and if you don't have the maps then get hold of them in plenty of time, so you can study all your points of interest. Do you have SatNav or satellite navigation? If you don't have it yet, now's the time to get it. It will add to your pleasure and remove some of the frustrations. You can plan the fastest route if you just want to get where you're going or you can plan country roads if the journey is part of the vacation. It's up to you (everyone that's going that is).

Decide what type of motorhome vacation you want. Do you want quiet and peaceful with birdsong and wilderness. Or do you want Entertainment and Life. Maybe you can mix and match the two in the same vacation.

GPS - SATNAV - Satellite Navigation for Your Motorhome

Wherever you're planning on taking your motorhome, especially if you're travelling on back roads, you'll be glad of a satellite navigation system to get you there.

Where Have You Been In Your RV ?

Motorhome Memories Are Made of This

My four essentials for recording an RV road trip would be camera, camcorder,a journal and a tape recorder. Everyone carries a camera to record those perfect moments and exquisite sunsets, mountains and bikinis(did I just say that?!!). A camcorder is essential where to freeze the moment would just lose so much. There's poetry in motion! Most Travelers only record their motorhome trips with a camera and a camcorder, and few give any thought to the idea of keeping a journal. Yet preserving your motorhome travel memories in a journal has some real advantages.

Writing allows you to record and preserve the details of your travels, allowing the excitement and adventure to continue long after you return home. What was behind those pictures? What were your feelings and emotions?

If you plan on turning your writings into travel articles, whether for commercial publication, your family newsletter or even your own satisfaction and preservation of your RV travel memories, your journal will serve as a superb resource.

Use a tape recorder to capture the sounds of a city, a special conversation, or the sounds of nature.

When you return home and read your journal, you'll find the memories it brings back to be well worth the effort you put into writing it.

Make Sure You Have Enough Pulling Power !

A Sparkling Motorhome Will Reflect Its Owner

What does your RV, fresh out of winter storage, say about you? Cleanliness and Health or tousled grubbiness? You've got to get it right before you set off, or when you going to find the time to do it right when you're on vacation? Get it to sparkle and it's something you (and your neighbors) will be proud of.

Some of this preparation will be sheer pride and some of it will be necessary safety. Have your motorhome checked over by the experts at the start of the season.

A thorough check and service will put your family's safety first. Make sure this is done by RV specialists who will check both the vehicle and the home aspects of your RV.They may even throw in some of the cleaning for you!!

...and if you're towing - make sure you have enough pulling power!

Motorhomes and Retirement

What better time than when you retire to get aboard your motorhome and take the time to re-discover the country that you've spent your whole life supporting?

No more responsibilities, and all the time you need, leave the family behind and set out on an RV journey of discovery across this great land.

Country Roads Just Made For Your RV Vacation

Are you taking your motorhome to the same old beach when there are hundreds of places just waiting to be discovered all across the United States?

Beautiful mountain scenery, the stillness of life, the roaring rivers and falls waiting to be fished, a wealth of beauty and activities. Miles of pristine beaches, and bird watching and nature areas.

Discover the rich forgotten history of the United States. and the rich architecture.

Shopping heavens. art galleries, delicious restaurants and golf. Did you know that Michigan is home to more public golf courses than any other state?

Tell Us Another Story Grandpops

Children and adults alike enjoy a good story. This may be one you tell over and over, or it may be the latest fiction you are reading.

Yet as most motorhomes now have CD players, parents, children and other travellers are rediscovering the joys of the spoken word as found on audiobooks.

This listening can be done as a family activity on RV vacations. Imagine complete silence in the motorhome because everyone is busy listening to the story. The most important consideration for families is choosing something both parents and children can enjoy.

Demand for books about specific travel locations have also become very popular .

Budget Travelling In Your Motorhome

Your RV can be one of the most economical ways to travel.

  • Plan your RV travel during the off seasons - before and after prime travel time.
  • Limit your RV Travel to one tank of gas - There are acres of diamonds in your own locality.
  • The less your RV weighs, the more mileage you'll get on the road. Maybe you could keep only enough water on board for the next day's travel, plus a little contingency.
  • Drive Less, Stay More - Make fewer stops and spend more time at each destination. It can be much more relaxing to know that once you've parked up your RV you're settling in for a while. Also, you'll be able to do some in-depth exploration of the area.
  • Don't always buy RV supplies from RV dealers, unless you need a special widget to fit your woggle then there are probably cheaper ways to buy,
  • Look in the local classifieds for yard sales and flea markets. Stopping at flea markets and yard sales may find you a one-of-a-kind treasure. Not only do these unconventional choices offer the opportunity to find unusual items, it's a great way to contact local people. You could spot the perfect gift for a family member at someone's yard sale.

Serious About His Toys

Motorhome Entertainment

Motorhome Entertainment can either be supplied by the camp ground or by yourselves.

You may enjoy meeting people and having fun. You may enjoy quality time with your family. You may enjoy solitude and being at one with nature.

Whatever you decide, my 4 essentials for taking in your RV are:

  • Games - Board games, playing cards and other things to bring you together with your friends and loved ones in shared fun.
  • Stories - Books and audiobooks are a must for settling yourself down after a busy day.
  • Music - Rock, country, classical depending on your mood and also to put you in the mood!
  • Films - Take some dvd films to share together. You may not alway camp in places with good television signals.

One thing you didn't mention is CB radios! CBs can be extremely useful in a RV to provide road and traffic conditions, weather updates and, of course, allow for communications with other vehicles on the highway.

Thanks for a great Hub!

Rv's are the way to go. Once I traveled in one I could never travel any other way. I like being able to take naps or eat while hubby is driving. We have the most fun. And we can't wait until our next trip.
