Rabbits In The Garden

Rabbits may be cute, but the serious gardener knows that they can be a huge pest. Rabbits are attracted into your garden because of all the tasty food to be had, and they stay because of the lack of predators and easy access to the food source.

Rabbits can eat their way through your vegetable garden in no time, and if they breed nearby you'll soon have even more of the little critters munching away on your prize veg.

Getting rid of rabbits is notoriously difficult, but there are some methods you can try!

You Could Try...

A Child's Windmill

Some gardeners say that the noise and movement of a simple child's windmill can put off rabbits and other pests from venturing into your garden. It creates a disturbance and the wary bunnies won't venture out into the open.

Lacing Your Plants With Vinegar

Rabbits are thought not to like vinegar or spices, so sprinkle some on your plants to keep them off. Of course, if you're going to be eating the plants yourself you may not want to try this!

A Cat

A pet cat with predatory instincts should soon chase away any pesky rabbits. If you don't want the real thing however you can put a toy one in your garden to have the same effect.

A Fence

A fence around your vegetables is a sure-fire way to keep rabbits out. It should be a few feet high and a few feet deep to stop the rabbits going over or under. Your garden may end up looking like a prison, but rest assures that rabbits will never get in.

Rabbits may be cute but they can certainly destroy a garden.

Good suggestions, I didn't even know I had them until we had footprints in the snow.
