Ragdoll cats are a special breed of cats that are very quiet and docile.  They don't run around a lot, and they like to stay on the ground most of the time.  They rarely jump up on counters or furniture, prefering to spend most of their time on the floor.

Ragdoll cats will often lie around for hours, barely moving.  You can pick them up and hold them, and they won't try to run away like many other breeds of cats.  This is one reason why many people prefer ragdolls. 

Ragdolls make excellent pets for children, because they rarely scratch or bite.  They are extremely friendly, and get along well with people and other animals.

Because of their extremely friendly and docile nature, they must be kept indoors.  Ragdolls can't or won't defend themselves when attacked, so they are prone to being harmed by other animals.
