Raja Ravi Varma's Oil Paintings of Indian Women

Raja Ravi Varma was the famous Indian Oil Painter who lived in the Eighteenth Century. He ws born in Trvancore which is situated in kerala. He started proving his ability to canvas the beauties around him. He was encouraged by his uncle who helped him in his painting work. Later a Bristish oil painter gave him main lessons of the art of paintings. Most of his paintings were of Indian women on historic stories and a good portion of these women were malayalees from kerala. He was also titled as Raja by the Viceroy Lord Curzon after homouring him for his beautiful works. Most of his original paintings are being sold in auctions for huge amounts and each of his oil painting is from a true story that surrounded him. This made his paintings about Kerala women outstanding due to his ability to give originality or life to the paintings in canvasses.

He is an awesome painter and the museum of kerala in cochin is one of the best to see his paintings. Fantastic collection of his great works. His paintings bring to life the rich traditions of the life of keralites in all its glory. Thumbs up for a great hub about a great man.
