Apart from the original decided casting of Rajnikanth in the lead role, Shankar as director and A. R. Rahman as the music composer, the rest of the cast is expected to be named within the next six months. Several heroines were approached to essay the lead female role with Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Asin Thottumkal, Trisha Krishnan, Shriya Saran and Nayanthara being linked with the role and furthermore, Amitabh Bachchan was considered for a further lead role.

In late January 2008, Aishwarya Rai was announced as the heroine of the project, and she later confirmed her appearance in the film to the news channel, Aaj Tak. The shoot of the film is likely to start in the summer of 2008, with Robot becoming the most expensive film ever made in India.

Most recently, Sabu Cyril was signed up as the art director, Sujatha bagged the chance to become the dialogue writer while Nirav Shah has taken up the post of the cinematographer, after K. V. Anand, Manikandan and Ravi K. Chandran had opted out.

The title of the movie in tamil seems likely to be set EYANTHRA. Title of the same movie in telugu and hindi will be ROBOT.

While Deepika Padukone was believed to be in the race to share screen with Southern superstar Rajnikanth in the sci-fi Robot, now it appears that the Aishwarya Bachchan has taken over the role.

Though Deepika was offered the role, sources say that Ash was definitely the first choice. "Aishwarya was always the first choice of the director and she was offered the role long time back. But she had not reverted as she was very busy. But now after going through the script, she liked the concept and said yes," informed a mole.

It's also believed that Ash was uncomfortable doing the movie earlier as it was offered to Shah Rukh Khan first, considering Khan is not in the best of terms with the Bachchans. When we contacted Aishwarya's manager Hari Singh he said, "It's a very confidential matter and talking about it at this point of time would be too premature."

Rajinikanth to star in P.Vasu's 'Kuselan'

The tile of the quickie that Superstar Rajinikanth would be doing before Shankar's 'Robot' has been decided. The film directed by P. Vasu has now been christened 'Kuselan'.

The film is about the friendship between a village barber and his friend, a movie star who comes to that village for shooting. Rajinikanth plays the movie star while Pasupathi is touted to play the role of the barber.

The latest news that adds to the excitement is that G.V. Prakash will compose music for this remarkable movie. Since Rajini wants to bring out the film as soon as possible, the shooting might start immediately. The film might hit the screens by July, after which the mega project ‘Robot' would be started.

This will be a remake of the Malayalam flick 'Katha Parayumbol', which was Mamootty's X'mas offer in 2007, with Mammooty and Sreenivasan playing the lead roles. P. Vasu and Rajnikanth joined hands to give the blockbuster 'Chandrmukhi'. Will they get lucky again?

KB's Kavithalaya Productions will be producing the film. The shooting is expected to start by February.

It is almost certain that Simran, the erstwhile numero uno of Tamil film industry, is donning an important role in Rajinikanth's Kuselan. Though she is not acting as the pair to Rajini, the opportunity to act in the film of India's biggest star would definitely work in her favor.

The beautiful actress, who had been the top heroine for many years, is struggling to make a come back after her marriage and child birth. Now she has got a golden opportunity to prove her worth by acting in ‘Kuselan', opposite Pasupathy.

It is worth recalling that Simran, with amazing dancing skills, was the first choice for Chandramukhi, which revolved around a dancer. Since she was on the family way, she could not take up the offer and the chance went to Jyothika, who came out with a top notch performance.

It seems Tabu will play this role in telugu where the movie's title would be KUCHELUDU, produced by Vaijayanthi movies.
