"Lord Ram" is probably the most worshipped lord of the ten avatars of lord Vishnu closely followed by lord krishna. What made Ram so great that people evem=n after more two thousand years of his existence wish for a governance like the one that existed during the regimen of shri Ram. Ram, the eldest of the the four sons of Raghu vamshi Dasharat Was known for his discipline, truthfulness, just rule, courage, character, valour, obedience, tolerance.... his list of virtues were endless and probably that was the reason that he was called as maryada purshotham -- which means Ideal man. He was the essence of leading a righteous life. he was probably the first king who laid the foundation of democracy in this country and was so principled that he gave up his beloved wife as subjects want him to do so....

 Ram was instrumental in reliving the world of  the evil asura called Ravan -- the then king of Lanka with a army of monkeys, rechees, bears. His close aide was Hanuman-- the immortal one who epitomized bhakthi (devotion) towards his master and helped Ram in rescuing Sita from the clutches of Ravan And also rescues Ram and Laxman on many a occasion. The epic is one of the great contribution of Hindu mythology to world literature and a must read for all those who wish to lead their life in a just way... Jai shri Ram.
