It is day three of Lita's Random Poetry Challenge. Lita has challenged us to reawaken the poet in all of us. Join us, it's lots of fun!
This was written on a historic day in the life of the United States...and indeed the world. I have never seen such excitement over a presidential inauguration. It makes me think this must have been what it was like when JFK came to power. So much has changed in the 48 years between them. Anyway, that is another story.
Poetry is a difficult challenge for many of us. Others just seem to bleed poetry and only have to write it down. Please forgive any bad poetry you might find below. I'm experimenting with different techniques.
Old CD's in a Dumpster in a College Town
Kids today. They don't know music.
They don't know quality and it makes me sick.
When I empty that dumpster outside the dorm, the crazy things I find.
The sheer waste of it all is making me lose my mind.
Who in their right mind would throw out a Frankie Goes to Hollywood CD? Frankie...now that was music. Relax...don't do it...
Oh...and look...there is Echo and the Bunnymen and their song Killing Moon, when I was in college that song was a hit.
These were artists from the beginning of CD technology, those damn kids should learn some respect for the past.
They must have gotten these CDs from their parents, school barely started, talk about getting rid of them fast.

Ok, so I lied about the weight loss. It's just that every time I type "thirty-day" the words weight loss seem to want to come next. Must be this New Year's Resolution I'm ignoring. ... - 11 months ago

I like your poetry. I cannot recall now the name of this poetry genre but this is popular among the young.
I think formalism in poetry has alienated many people. People want to write poetry without following rules. Just like any art form, artists always want artistic freedom.
I am looking forward to more poems from your site. Thanks for your poetry!
