Randy Schroeder Leaves Agel for Monavie; So What?
68
I had never even heard of Randy Shroeder until this news hit the airwaves. I had only heard of Agel because one of my Renegade Guide Sisters is in Agel. In fact it was Terri's article: http://hubpages.com/hub/Randy-Schroeder-Leaves-Agel-And-Joins-Monavie that prompted me to throw in my two bits worth.
Leaders Take Their Whole Team With Them
I'd like to comment on a comment made in Terri's hub; Paradigm Shift said:
- "Maybe Randy just knows when the market is shifting, and chose to join the fastest growing MLM in the U.S. I mean, a billion dollars in revenue in three and a half years? It's never been done before MonaVie. Plus, the science backing the Acai berry and it's health benefits is undeniable."
I would direct him to p.16 of The 7 Great Lies of Network Marketing by Ann Sieg.
- ..."When an upline with a big organization moves from one company to another and takes their whole team with them. People on the outside looking in only see the rapid growth and big bonuses, but what they don't see is everything that's gone on behind the scenes. They're not getting the whole story. Yes, that upline brought in a huge team with them and began earning big money pretty much right away...but...it took years and years before they got to the point where they were actually in a position to do that. They had to develop relationships and build a team that was loyal enough to them that they would even be willing to move with them wherever they went."
...kind of like Orrin Woodward taking 25,000 from Quixtar to Monavie. I know people; leaders in fact that put their businesses on hold for six months so they could legally make this shift. I have no idea if this is the case with Randy Schroeder or not; I'm just saying it happens.
A billion dollars sounds impressive and prior to reading Ann Sieg I would have been naive enough to believe them.
You can believe its the acai berry if you want. I'm sorry to sound jaded but if Monavie have head hunted these two leaders who else have they attracted that we don't know about? Just asking.
All We Need Is Motivation?
My take on the whole thing is something Ann Sieg said about motivation:
"When you have systems that work you don't need motivation." - Ann Sieg - The Renegade Network Marketer.
and something else Ann Sieg had to say:
"If you've been hard at it for over 3 years and you still aren't cash flowing..Something is seriously wrong! And I can guarantee it isn't your motivation."
Attraction Marketing
Attraction Marketing or Social Marketing is all about attracting people to you. It's not about the product or the service; it's about branding you. Burke Hedges wrote a book: YOU INC. In the past those that have been successful in network marketing were applying this principle. The phrases are new the concept is not.
Terri says: "Randy has done that. No matter where he is, he attracts people to him and therefore to whatever business he's in."
My take on this method is that it is 'old school'. This is the way network marketing businesses were built in the past. We needed charismatic people to pump us up; fill our gas tanks so we could endure another 90 days of being battered up.
Diamonds In The Rough
Ann's point in sharing about whole teams moving to another MLM was that...
"Everyone's on a different timeline and there are multiple puzzle pieces that came into play that determine how quickly and how easily a person will make money. And a big one is skill level."
When I first got into network marketing several years ago I was shown a diagram:
A____________B___________________________C
A is where you start and C is where you are making good money. This is when you are invited to speak at conferences to pump up the masses. The B is your learning curve. The point where B is placed on this timeline could be at 2 weeks, 2 month, 2 years or quite frankly never. This is your personal development learning curve. Some people come to network marketing with these skills. The beauty of network marketing is this is where you can develop them
We typically notice people when they are at point C. We forget that they were once at point A. They were "diamonds in the rough". These leaders may inspire and motivate us but they aren't going to build our business for us. I can't count the number of times I went to a conference, listened to the ‘Randy Schroeders' got fired up, came home determined to build my business only to be faced with if only I had someone to show my opportunity to I would do it!
Now, I stay home, do business in my pjs if I want and am motivated by people coming to me. Which would you prefer? As Ann Sieg says making money is a great motivator. When you have inner motivation you don't need Randy Schroeder et al.
To show you far I've come in my thinking in the last few months; my all time favorite speaker is coming to town and I'm not going. I have travelled miles in the past to hear Bev Sallee speak. I have learned a lot from her but you know; she never once helped me build my business. If these companies need the Randy Schroeder's of the world; I don't need them.
Do You Want To Be A Randy Schroeder?
If you have a dream, are willing to work and develop your skills and are teachable you may want to join a growing team of C's "in training". We have an Accelerated Coaching System in place where you become a consultant a.s.a.p.; which means you know one thing more than the person you are coaching. You may not have all the answers but you know where to go to get the answers. If you are online at all you already know far more than most people offline.
Another great mentor of mine, Mike Klingler of Renegade University had us do an excellent exercise. He said to write down everything we had learned so far. Instead of focusing on what we don't know; focus on what you do know. Two weeks into Renegade University I wrote down 30 things! Don't underestimate your value; particularly when you can plug into a system that has a head coach and a team of assistant coaches. This type of training is what's next in network marketing.
Most of us that came online and found Ann Sieg's, The Renegade Network Marketer basically got dumped with four years of course books on our first day of class. The back end system is incredible but it is overwhelming to many.
- Wouldn't it be nice to clear away all those books except one?
- Wouldn't it be nice to have a printed task list leading you step by step; on as need to know basis?
- Wouldn't that make it much easier to guide someone else?
I can't believe the cloud that has been lifted from my brain! I love Renegade University but I needed more structure. It too is like Ann's back end system; great value and tons of tutorials but overwhelming. And I joined when it launched so there weren't nearly as many tutorials!
The 90 Day Marketer which comes with a 90 Day money back guarantee is the perfect solution for many of us. McKay Earl teaches us what we need to know first, second, third... He introduces us to doing our own marketing at lesson seven which fits in perfectly with Renegade University.

Overwhelmed? Just Want to Know What to Do Next?
Irene Kirkman, internet marketing consultant, is offering personal assistance for those who have home based businesses or would like to work from home online. The biggest challenge with taking your business online is becoming overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information available. Avoid ‘analysis paralysis’, learn what you need to do next. The number one challenge I hear from people is: "I just want simple.” and “ Can’t you just tell me what to do next?" I have a solution. I know very well what not to do and can therefore shorten the learning curve substantially for anyone that is serious about escaping the rat race.

Thanks Kathy! We've got the right vehicle with the right tools and the road map to follow! This bus has left the station! We'll be making lots of stops to let others on board.
Good advice. There is definately a big learning curve. I am amazed at how much I have learned since joining RU. And I keep finding more stuff to learn about.

Irene, very complete Hubpage. This is one I'll read again. As far as the Randy Schroeders, there is usually a story behind the story.
As far as being motivated--I agree with Ann Sieg--money is a great motivator.
I'm feeling very comfortable with my decision to tap into McKay Earl's 90-Day Marketer which, I see his training as the missing piece to building a vibrant online business and being able to teach that to others. Thanks.
Hey Ina - this hub is really an important message to all of us. When you quoted Ann about motivation is not the problem at all - so true. It's the fact that our world has changed since MLM became an industry 50+ years ago.
I work less now doing exactly what Marketing Merge Mike :) (Klingler) coaches us to do at RU. And it is easier, efficient work because of the huge leverage effect of the Internet. Great hub!
Hi Irene - this was really big news when it came out and Terri was really suprised as this affects both of us. I am doing well in Agel and will always use the products. I am so glad to be using the Renegade system because as you say, the old MLM way is old school. I am learning so much with the Renegade but I still am not through with half of the lessons. I hope to be like Terri working less doing exactly what Mike Klingler advises us to do.
Go Irene !
Great post! Great points. People always want to point at what someone else is doing. They need to stay focused on what they need to be doing to get where those people are. They have been in the trinches to learn the things they know. My goal is to get in their tale winds and learn and learn and grow and grow until I am able to stand beside people like Randy Shroeder. Go Randy !
Nice article I had not heard about this it does not suprise me I have heard of this happening in the past. I am sure it probably happens more often then we realize. Especially when large networks are involved. All the best. thanks
Michelle
Hi Irene!
Once again great writing. I am now reafy for the 90 Day Marketer!
Regards
Tania
Great Hub Irene, we need to read between the lines when things like this happen.
This happened in our MLM a few years back when Excel went out of business. One Excel leader came over with 400 distributors from different Excel organizations and stacked them all under each under in such a way to make her look good. Then she went around the country bragging on how she was the very first person to reach the top rank in our MLM in less than one year.
I knew the real story of how she did this because of the people I knew from the personal coaching I had been doing a few years before this took place. I hated this kind hype because it was dishonest and never part of our company in the past. However, there were some leaders that felt that maybe it could be motivating and offer hope, even if it was mis-leading.
The reason they felt this way was because they did not understand how people become self-motivated from real personal results, not from short-term feel-good stories like this and the other old-school marketing methods. In other words, they didn't know of any other answer to create faster growth.
I earned $7,000 my first month after launching the Renegade Marketing system to my current list and downlines. I told others that the reason why I earned this amount so fast and why it continues to keep paying me is because of the list of followers I already had relationships with. I also tell them that is why they need to learn how to build their own list, which many have done.
MLM is changing big time now with the attraction-marketing model and I am so glad to be out front leading the way with leaders like you. We can help so many learn the truth of great marketing that produces great results. They can do this right out of the gate without hype, just great training!
Keep up your great leadership!
Hi Irene,
I really enjoyed the HUB! Great advice.
Keep up the Great HUBS!

Hi Irene,
I've heard about things like this happening in the past. That is why I am glad I have multiple income streams that I am building with Marketing Merge. I definitely have to tap into your 90 day program asap. I just have to reach my gaol of Super Guide first, then I'm on board.
Irene this hub touches on one of my biggest issues with mlm. That's when folks show "pay stubs" to prove how effective the company/training/business is.
What they don't tell you is that in order to make that $11,000 their 1st or 2nd month is that they already had a HUGE list or downline who were ready to buy what ever they sent their way.
As you say... Your milage may vary. If you're starting from scratch, with no list and no downline will your earnings match the felloe in the example above? NO! And you shouldn't expect them to nor should folks be trying to tell you they will.
Thank you for helping to clarify this for us all.

Thank you Irene forr a great article. Having just been the president of a network marketing company this year and seeing the "other side" of the coin, there is so much that goes on "behind the scenes" in every MLM company. It is easy to want to create ethical and value-based businesses but when the bottom-line is paramount, it is definitely an interesting challenge. But for 2009, I am thrilled to be back on the distributor side and able to run my business with integrity through and through using the spiritual principles of attraction marketing. I have to believe that the cream will rise to the top in this industry. Thanks for being a wonderful teacher and leader Irene!
