The Albino Moose

The rarely seen Albino Moose are a beautiful

sight that Mother Nature has kept fairly secret for years.

The Albino are totally white with pink eyes.

They don't blend in with the forrest very well so they tend to

be easy targets for predators.

Albinism is due to various gene mutations that

affect the production of normal pigmentation.

True (amelanistic) albinos lack melanin and are white with

no markings and with un-pigmented pink eyes. Their pink nose is also a sign of being an albino.

White or Pale Moose

Some of these "pale Moose" are actually in a phase, some have brown or gray spots and brown eyes, these are not Albino, as they have some pigment. Albino are void of all pigment. I don't feel they should be hunted as it seems like they are a message to us from a higher source. I noticed as i traveled through several websites that many have been killed for their uniqueness.. There are several groups of these moose in varied locations, Alaska, mid west, New York, Canada. This gene issue can be passed on to the next generations. I guess it is called a mutation.

I have this photo too! Isn't it GREAT!!

I also really love the luna moth photo - I have a lot of extreme wildlife photos I have taken - one is of a black bear sitting AT my picnic table eating seeds out of the bird feeder; yep, sitting there just like a person would.

I should start a new hub project on wildlife!!

This is GREAT!!
