Ray Davies - Songwriter Extraordinaire
56Ray Davies the songwriter
Ray Davies wrote and is continuing to write some of the greatest rock/pop songs ever written. His huge back catalogue of songs shows a rock genius at work. He's influenced fellow British Invasion stalwarts such as Pete Townshend, punk rock, new wave, Britpop. He's getting better with age as he has a new CD out - Working Man's Cafe. On Oct 28/07, he headlined the BBC Electric Proms and the show looked spectacular. Here are some videos from that concert.

These are great videos. I could vicariously (and perhaps even viscerally) feel the atmosphere and emotion in the auditorium, and I partucularly liked the back up-choir. The technical quality of the sound is excellent.
To watch and listen to these three videos is better than listening to the original recordings of the songs, and is an experience in itself.
Ray Davies is a huge songwriting talent, better, in my opinion, than even was John Lennon. And as a performer he exudes an impish sense of fun, reflecting the drollery of the lyrics of his songs.
