Did you see or read Ann Rice's Interview with A Vampire. Did you like it. If so then your going to like what we have for you here.We have for you a interview with a man named Peter who claims to be a real live ( or rather undead vampire ) who says he was born in 1712 near Charleston S.C. This interview was done over email and telephone and while we can not say everything in it is real you can read it and see what you think.

Q. Ok you say your a real vampire tell us about yourself a bit if you will.

A. As I told you I will only give my first name which is Peter and tell you that I was indeed born in 1712 near Charleston S.C. on what was then a Rice Plantation on what is now the Ashley River Road. The house I was born in is still there today though no one no longer lives there. My father was a wealthy man of the time and made a lot of money from Rice and trading. I was the third son and as I grew up I had the run of the plantation where we lived and loved my childhood on the plantation. My family at the time also owned a house in downtown Charleston.

Q. When and how did you become a Vampire?

A. When I was 17 I was a wild young man spending the days sleeping and the nights going out to parties when there were parties or meeting married women for secret trysts other times. As I said I was a wild young man and I lived my life to the fullest. In the late fall of 1729 after my birthday in October when I turned 17 I was riding my horse to a near by plantation when one of the most beautiful women I ever knew rode into the road in front of me on a huge black stallion. She had dark skin and long black hair that fell down her back and onto the back of the horse. And she had a face like a angel.

I quickly introduced myself and she said yes Peter I know who you are. I said ok but who are you. She told me and asked me what I was up to this evening. It was just before dark and even for Charleston it was quite a warm night for so late in the fall. I told her I was on my way to a near by plantation. She got off her horse and tied him to a low hanging branch of one of the massive gnarled old oak trees there on the creek. She said walk with me a bit Peter. I don't know why but I quickly obeyed getting down off my mare and tied her up to a near by tree. When she took my hand in hers it was like I felt electricity pass through me. I know I jumped and she kissed me quickly and said come along Peter. I followed her up under the huge oak trees along the creek and she let me take her in my arms.

I won't go into vivid details but I will tell you that before the sun rose again I had received the dark gift of being made into a vampire. It is done in much the same way as Ann Rice described it in her books and incidentally Ann Rice got it pretty close to right with vampires with only a few exceptions.

Q. What did Ann Rice get wrong about Vampires. Can you elabarate a bit?

A. Well lets see. One big one is that I've never known a vampire that slept in a coffin. Darkened rooms yes but never coffins. And while the sun does make a young vampire a bit uncomfortable I am as comfortable in the sunlight as I am in the moonlight. The sun doesn't make us go poof or turn us to dust. And for the record garlic, crosses, or Holy Water don't work. Actually they don't do anything at all to us. Removing the heart from a Vampires Chest will kill it as will chopping off the head but that's about it folks. I've waited all my life for some one to hold a cross up and try to stop me. I would probably lean forward and kiss it and really blow their mind.

We can not survive on animal blood. In fact we would just throw it up. It has to be human and it has to come from a living breathing human being. We can't or don't rob blood banks. The blood from them would be useless. We have the ability to drink from a human and the marks seal almost at once. We take only what we need. But drink human blood we must and yes we have to drink it every day.

And my hair will always be the length it was the night I was made. If I cut it with in 24 hours it will grow back so somehow Ann Rice got that one close to right.

Q. Can you tell us if Vampires have any kinds of special powers?

A. Well I can't turn into a bat or fly but vampires do have special powers. I can scan a house from the outside and know who's inside and what they are doing. And if I'm near you I can read your thoughts and know exactly what you are thinking. I can also move much faster than a human can. And if I'm near to you I can make you forget that I just drank your blood and no you won't find any puncture marks as something in my saliva heals them almost as soon as I make them.

Q. Do you have any ideal how real vampires came to be? Where did they come from?

A. Well the cats already out of the bag on this one its just not widely known. The legend or story among our kind is that Judas Iscariot was the father of all vampires and that the real true vampires will roam the earth until the return of the Christians Christ.

Some vampires claim they can only drink the blood of Christians but I know that is not true. The vampire who gave me the dark gift was born she said in 1143 England and I don't doubt her at all. Shes the one who originally told me that we came from Judas Iscariot though she said she had never saw Judas Iscariot nor had she ever met any vampire who claimed to have met him.

She told me that there are darker more vicious vampire like beings in Europe but I have never met one of them. And yes we know each other. If there's another vampire with in 5 miles of me I will know it and so will the other vampire.

A. Ok what about ghosts do they exist? Have you ever saw one?

Yes there really are ghosts that walk here on this earth along with a few other strange creatures. While I was alive as a human I had never saw a ghost but I think it was only because I had never been where there was one. After my Mom and my older sister had both passed away and been buried in the family graveyard I returned to the old family plantaion home in Charleston and I saw both the ghost of my Mother and my older sister. When they saw me they feared me and knew what I was. My mother made the comment to me. Go away you unholy thing. Over the years I have returned and have saw the ghosts of my Mother, older sister and other family members but have never saw the ghost of my father or younger brother. Other vampires have told me they think the peoples ghosts you don't see have gone on to some where else. Some have even went as far as to claim that those you don't see are in hell. One thing I will tell you is even though I have known vampires that were destroyed I have never saw the ghost of a vampire. And thats something that other vampires just don't talk about.

Q. How many vampires do you think there are in the United States?

A. It is in the low hundred thousands I'm sure. There are more real vampires in the United States than any other place I have ever been in the world. China for some reason has the fewest. Many vampires claim to have seen older more violent vampire creatures in Europe but though I have been there many times I never have.

Q. What is the oldest Vampire you ever knew? Are there any vampire secrets your not telling us.

I met a Vampire in Ireland that claimed to have been born in what is now northern Ireland in 300 BC. And he said he knew older vampires.

I think I have basically told you all the secrets of the vampire that I'm going to tell you. And there really is a lot that I don't think anyone knows. I myself have traced vampires back before the time of Judas Iscariot so I'm not sure if Judas Iscariot was the father of all vampires or if he even had anything to do with the creation of vampires at all. Maybe they have just always been here. I do wonder what happens to the soul if a vampire is killed. And I have wondered why no vampire has ever claimed to have seen the ghost of a vampire. And even though I have seen the ghosts of many of my relatives who were my family when I was a human why are there some people that you never see a ghost of. Is there a hell? I don't know but I do wonder.
