Determine What "Type" You Are

There are a lot of ways to make money on the internet... but when you ask yourself "How am I going to make money," you've only asked part of the question. Part of the real answer is to ask a second question... "How am I best suited to make money?" Personality types figure in in a big way when sizing up opportunity on the internet.

First, assess what your approach is to making money. Have you been someone who has been employed most of your life? Many people just want to get paid for performing a service for another entity, a company or person that needs something done. There are many opportunities to do things like this on the internet from writing blogs to placing ads. You can make money doing things like this... but the real opportunity on the internet lies in becoming a marketer yourself... but everyone is not the personality type to be able to make this work.

So the bug question is to ask yourself "Do I want to perform a task and get paid, or can I find the right product and market it myself for profit? Can i accept the risk of being an entrepreneur, or working for myself? Working for yourself means taking responsibility for your own future. You make your own paycheck... you're the boss. While this all sounds appealing at first blush, the realities of "taking care of business," can be daunting. So ask yourself... "Am I a Boss or an Employee?"

Decide if You're a Boss or Employee

Really, most people tend to say... "Oh, I'm a boss for sure," but the reality of this may take a dunk in the entrepreneurial pool to really drag the actual answer out of a prospective internet "worker." Personally, I've been a "Boss" for over 15 years, and I'm a serial entrepreneur... so I've made that determination. Even so, I am still attracted to opportunities to write on the internet because, well, I can write. Does this mean I'm not a "Boss" type. Not at all. It just pays to size up the opportunities and take advantage of what you're capable of doing. There's a lot of crossover on the internet, so like I've said on other hubs and blogs... you've got to do a little playing and investigating to find out what you want to do.

A Great Way to Start Making Money–Write!

One of the best things you can do to get started is to begin writing and blogging. Whether you're a "Boss," or an "Employee," type... honing your writing skills is essential...being able to communicate effectively. You can begin by creating a blog right here on HubPages. But if you don't feel particularly informational... just starting an online diary on WordPress or Blogspot will get you going. After you get comfortable with writing generally, and find your "voice," (how you like to talk to people with the written word) you can start commenting on all of the things you have experienced and played with on the internet.

Being well-informed and having an opinion helps give you direction as you begin to discover your internet personality... all leading to how you will chose to make money as a "Boss," or an "Employee," on the internet. Once you're comfortable with writing... check out the following sites to see how you can begin to earn money with your new writing skills:

A. Hubpages. We've talked about this forum. There are many opportunities right here to write for money.

B. Helium. I've written a few things here, and really, being informed and having an opinion is the key to being able to write articles. Make portals like CNN and MSN a place to cue in on the issues, then take a stand and start writing for Helium.

C. eHow. This site is for people with knowledge to share. It's a more formal site that really is a "how to" giving specific instruction with great detail. Very appealing for people who love to research.Everything from Exercise and Weight Control to the best way to get water out of your ear. This is the place to share all of those secrets you've been squirreling away for a rainy day. Now you can make money with them!

4. Triond. Triond is a great network that allows you to write on multiple topics, then finds the right place to publish them. You earn revenue based on what type of piece you are writing... from marketing to science and everything inbetween.

5. Xomba. Write about everything from "Why do Married Men Cheat," to the "Best Birthday presents for Kids." A little less formal than eHow.

6. Printnpost. A great program where you can write articles and blog for dollars. It also brought to my attention the fact that you can become an affiliate publisher through Linkshare. I haven't tried this yet, but you can bet that I will... and report back to you here..

7. Howtodothings. Writing and earning.

8. AssociatedContent. A service for people who are good at writing.

9.Tutorialtub. A place where your writing can also earn you AdSense Income

I will continue to investigate more ways to get into business on the internet, and offer different sites and opportunities to help those wishing to get started creating their own personal economies outside of being employed by a huge corporation a reality.
