RealPlayer 11 Lets You Download Videos from the Web

This is a follow up to the article, “Try the New RealPlayer, the Universal Player”, shows how the new Real video player, RealPlayer 11 works.

Real Video Player allows you to watch and download videos from various sites in different formats. You can download Web videos that are not copyright-protected. It is not officially released but you can get the program download from here.

I downloaded the player occupies 13.3 MB in Windows. After you install this RealPlayer 11 video player, when you watch any videos in the web, a pop up button floats in the window and asks, whether you would like to “download the video”. When you click it, it will save the video file into your computer. After finished downloading, when you click the play button, it will open the RealPlayer 11 which will play the video. The quality of the downloaded video is almost the same as the original one in the web.

Whatever the file format is available on the web; you can download it into your computer and watch it at your convenience. This is a much faster downloading compared to other programs in the web.

The feature works for video streams and for most video formats available online (Flash, Windows Media, QuickTime, and Real), including those hosted by video sharing sites like YouTube.

Only worries are the copyrighted content, we may download it easily but later RealPlayer might have problems with big media companies for providing such a tool. The video demonstration in the previous article said, it will allow download non-copyrighted content only. But most of the videos available at YouTube are copyrighted content.

Also, YouTube may prevent this download from their site via RealPlayer, but Alex Ionut says RealPlayer is a part of Google Pack of applications, so they may have some agreement in this video downloading of YouTube videos via RealPlayer 11.

It is a good tool, until the big media begins to complain, go ahead and use it and save your favorite videos from the web.
