My aunt was a school dinner lady for many a year and she was kind enough to share some old school dinner recipes with me. I had a good look around the net and saw that there weren't really any sites that had any recipes - so I thought I could share my aunt's recipes.

The first one I've chosen is the classic Shepherds Pie. I hope that you enjoy making it!! Remember that this is a real school dinner recipe - so it's not going to be the most sophisticated that you'll come across!!

Now, the recipe that she showed me is aimed at feeding a large amount of people - so if anyone wants I can cut the recipe down to a more realistic amount of people. Apparently the recipe is designed for 100 people...

Ingredients

12 lbs Mince 2lbs Dried Milk

2 lbs Onion Seasoning

50 lbs Potatoes 2lbs Cheese if liked

Method

Place think layer of potatoes in bottom of tin. Brown mince and onions and place over potatoes. Cover with mashed potatoes. Fork lightly and bake for 1.5 hours. The potato may be sprinkled with grated cheese before baking.

Now, the more observant among you will notice that there is no mention of the dried milk - I guess you just mix it through the mashed potatoes. Also, when to season? You can season the meat after it has been browned. Finally, no mention of a temperature - but 180 degrees will do just fine.
