Wait..you mean I'm not supposed to wear my glove like this?
Wait..you mean I'm not supposed to wear my glove like this?

Who is not a fan of Reality TV? Admit it...you get excited when you find out what B-list actors/actresses will be embarrassing themselves on Dancing with the Stars...you are on the edge of your seat to find out which Survivor participant will be cast away back to normal life...you laugh out loudly when you watch the ear-piercingly bad auditions on American Idol...knowing that you sing just as badly as them. But, sometimes Reality television becomes stagnant...same ol' housemates fighting in The Real World...or Big Brother or any other reality show that involves a house. What do we do when these reality shows don't surprise us anymore? Watch the reality stars of professional sports! These stars have all the controversy and infidelity that can satisfy your reality fix!

1. Joey Porter-Miami Dolphins, NFL.

This outside line-backer has a knack for scuffles. He has had altercations with players...league officials...even teams. What is his strategy for attention? Baring his belly and taunting opposing teams during their warm-ups. Pretty effective, this display resulted into an ejection due to a fight with Cleveland Browns running back William Green. Starved for even more attention, Porter needed bigger fish to fry. In 2006, during a visit to the White House, Porter threatened to criticize President Bush:

"...I have something to tell him, too. I don't like the way things are running right now. I feel like he has to give me some of my money back."

He was rewarded by his peers by being voted second-dirtiest player in the NFL. But, you can't blame Mr. Porter, he is the only player worth watching on a terrible Miami Dolphins team that has started this season 0-8. Who will he tangle with next? My money is on Rosie O'Donnell.

2. Alex Rodriguez-New York Yankees, MLB.

Talk about craving the limelight, Alex announced he was opting out of his contract during the last game of the World Series. This angered the commissioner and fans, alike. Undoubtedly the most talented player on the free agent market this year, Rodriguez has been in the headlines for many things besides his stellar play. In Game 6 of the 2004 American League Championship Series, Alex hit a ground ball towards the pitchers' mound allowing Bronson Arroyo to grab the ball and run towards Rodriguez to attempt a tag out. Rodriguez slapped his glove and knocked the ball loose. This, of course, was illegal and he was considered "out". Alex used more of his "sandlot creativity" during a game against the Toronto Blue Jays. During a routine play he shouted "mine" while running the bases, causing a Blue Jay to let the ball drop without a play on it. This low-blow tactic cost the Jays 4 runs.

What is in store this off-season for A-Rod? So far, he has angered the Steinbrenners, the Red Sox, and the commissioner. And that's just the beginning...I would be lying if I told you I wasn't on the edge of my seat...

3. Kobe Bryant-Los Angeles Lakers, NBA.

Who doesn't remember the antics of Mr. Bryant in Colorado? Or what about the slap fights between him and Shaq? Kobe's escapades have been well-chronicled throughout the years. From his estranged marriage to Vanessa Laine to his fallout of favor with the Laker fans, Kobe continues to keep us tuned in to his life on and off the court. Training camp starred a wishy-washy Kobe, stating desires to be traded to Chicago. Now, we hear the rumors are false, but who is really pulling the strings here? Is this just a diabolic plan to rule the universe? Tune in this season to find out...if I could TIVO Kobe, I would.

We have all received an early Christmas gift from these athletes...controversy! Aww Joey, Alex, and Kobe...you shouldn't have! But, if more athletes jump on this idea, it would be disastrous...if everyone stopped watching Reality television shows and only watched sports...we might lose another season of Flavor of Love.
