Really Interactive MMORPGs
71I want really interactive MMORPGs
I want really interactive MMORPGs. I want to be able to create worlds, create interactions, create content and not just do what the game authors pre-defined for me!
Pre-defined worlds, pre-defined gaming
Guild Wars I've played and I've seen this myself. You do quests, just the way the authors wanted you to do them, you talk about doing those quest with other players, you follow a pre-defined story line, you get pre-defined accessories for your character (toon), you get pre-defined upgrades etc. Anyone notice anything that's not pre-defined there? Thought so.
Why people seem not to mind lack of customization
Beats me. Anyway, I didn't hear anyone complaining about this yet. You have millions, literally millions, of people in Guild Wars, World Of Warcraft etc. right now, all are happily on their quests (the same quest that everyone else was on), doing the same missions everyone else were doing and killing the boring monster. They have the same accessories on their characters. The same skills. Too much things are the same!
What's there now - Guild Wars, WOW, Anarchy Online etc.
Well, you have Guild Wars (played it quite a lot, pre-defined to the max), World Of Warcraft (from what I've seen, it's pretty much the same, but the world is enormous and that, besides some other things, makes it feel quite more free actually, but still not good. Now there's Anarchy Online. Which is old. Very old. But I actually like it more than Guild Wars. I can't explain it, but it gives you more of that feeling that you're in control, that it's a real world and that you can make a chair out of that tree, if you try hard, if you get me. And it's free!
Second Life
This may, just may, be the solution to my cravings. You can create many things there and it sure does take interactivity to a whole another level. In fact, their moto is: "Your world. Your imagination." I love it. Some people say it's boring as hell, but I guess they're probably searching more for that kill-the-monster-with-big-flash kind of thing. And that's perfectly OK, and I'll get to it in just a minute. This thing is amazing to me, you have actual companies operating inside, you have actual currency which you can convert to real dollars, euros, pounds, whatever. You can build your things there, own land. It really is a whole new level. And yes, there is sex.
Someone says: "I want to kill monsters with a flash in Second Life!"
Well that actually is the point to this article (Hub). Today, on this planet, I don't see a virtual world with the excitement of World Of Warcraft or Guild Wars or Anarchy Online and the real virtual world element of Second Life. I admit not to have played Second Life enough to say that it couldn't satisfy this craving, but I really think it couldn't. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm missing something (please, post comments if you want to reply), but I just don't. And that's the problem. I'm pretty sure this will get resolved in the near future.
What to do then?
Well, don't take all this too seriously. If you want flashes and action, go with the Guild Wars or World Of Warcraft or Anarchy Online (which is free, I repeat)! If you want true (although, not yet as true as I want it) interactivity, go with the Second Life. You can try to find something else, too, and don't forget - have a great time when you find what you want!

You are very right. An MMORPG with full customization of your character and abilities would be the best thing ever. If I could play in a world where I could actually affect it, as in clear a cave of monsters and decide to make that my hideout, then fill it with my stuff, use it as a guildhouse, that would be awesome. Or something where you could actually build structures within an MMORPG and change the world around you.
Yes, Figgis, exactly. That what you described seems fun :)
If Aion Online could be able to that~ That would be awesome!

I agreed with you in everything till you said that SL was what you needed . SL is not a MMORPG is a huge customizable chat room/store. NO story, no point, no objective. Thow i agree with you about everything else. I wish MMORPGs took the cuztomizacion from SL in some way.
