Reasons To Use GPS Tracking For Cars
56For those of us that have reason to begin to use GPS tracking for cars I thought it might be interesting to explore some of the reasoning behind this practice rather than go into the minute details of each and every single instance where this type of tracking might be considered reasonable and useful. We are all well aware that there are situations and instances in life where knowing the exact location of a car is going to benefit us immensely.
Here are just a few of the situations where being able to track a car with GPS might be particularly helpful:
- Track a cheating spouse
- Monitor a teenager's driving habits
- Theft recovery
- Fleet tracking
We all know this to be true, but what reason do we have to track someone else with GPS? Is there some philosophical frame work that we can use to justify out actions?
A Reasoned Approach to GPS Tracking For Cars
What reasons can there be to use GPS tracking in a car? Well here are 3 that might be used by a person to justify the activity:
- You own the vehicle. If you own the car that you are tracking with GPS then you have a right to know the where abouts of the car at any given moment. Sure, you could just ask the person driving where they are going, but you never know this for certain. That is where GPS can come in. With a real time GPS tracking device you can have instant information on the position of the vehicle. And you should have this because it is your car.
- You have a right to know the person's activity. If you are married to someone then you have a right to know where they are. This is something that is obvious in healthy marriages and is information that is often freely given, but when you are talking about a cheating situation then the marriage is not healthy and the information will not be freely given. That is why GPS tracking is viable.
- You have a contract with the person in question. Businesses have a contract between themselves and their employees. They have a right to reasonable measures to ensure contract fidelity between them and their employee. Just as an employee has a right to fair compensation and can sue an employer for not paying them on time or the agreed upon wage, so too an employer can make sure that the employee is working in a manner that is according to their contract.
As you can see, there are all valid reasons to engage in GPS tracking for cars.
