A receding hairline is a condition that can be linked to a person’s genetics, physical condition, stress and more.  Each case of receding hairline could have a different cause which requires different treatment.  It is important to look back over recent illnesses and your family history for the origin of the hairloss.  Even after doing quite a bit of investigating and deciding on a course of action, success can be limited.

The most common cause for a receding hairline is genetics.  The mother's genes often carry the gene for hairloss.  It is also more commonly found in males but can also be experienced by females.  There are several products currently on the market that have been tested and found to be of help in a few cases

Physicians will describe your hairloss in technical chargon which we will try to define for you.  Hairloss described as "male pattern baldness" will be referred to as androgenic alopecia. A slight amount hairloss is clinically described as alopecia areata Those suffering with total hairloss is expressed as alopecia totalis.  Some suffer from an extreme form of hair loss involving their entire body which physicians technically call alopecia universalis.

Whatever type of hair loss you suffer from you are more than likely trying to find a remedy. In order to find the right remedy will involve finding the cause.  Once you have discovered the cause, which sometimes is quite difficult, then you can experiment with the various remedies available.  Some of these remedies can be pharmaceutical, some may be gene therapy, and some may be organic.

Some hair loss can be simply due to sudden or recurring stress in your life.  Stress can develop after the death of a family member, loss of a job, financial problems or other circumstances.  Your family physician should be your first source of diagnosis and relief. Once the situation causing the stress has been resolved your hair could return possibly without medication.

Health issues are quite often connected to hair loss. A person diagnosed with cancer and getting doses of chemo will lose hair.  The hair seems to return at the end of the chemo sessions.  Although it may not be quite the same as was there originally, it is still hair. Some hide their loss of hair with a wig while others complete shave their heads. Bald heads have become quite popular today.

Scientists have been doing a lot of research into how our tobacco relates to hairloss.  Another nail in the coffin for smokers.

Ongoing research is revealing new and successful ideas for treating hairloss.  One treatment that has been found to have mild success is taking daily vitamin E supplements. They have uncovered certain genes that can be manipulated to produce some hair growth
