Recession Proof Careers -2009
69An uncertain economy is driving people to consider their career choices more closely. Everyone has this little cloud hovering over them these days -the cloud of uncertainty. There are careers, however that seem to be flourishing despite the economic ups and downs that the entire globe is experiencing. Let's have a look at the best careers to consider right now.
Health Care
Any career in the Health Care industry is recession proof. People always get sick, and the baby boomers are the largest generation of folks ever and they are up there in years so unfortunately (or fortunately for some) health care is the way to go. Nurses especially are one of those recession proof careers. Health Care is actually the number 1 recession proof career out there. Do it yourself health care just does not work sometimes. Sometimes following illness things don’t always work out which results in death, which reminds me of another truism. Death and taxes are a sure thing which leads me to the next item on the list.
Accountants
Death and taxes are a fact of life hence the need for accountants. Doing one's own taxes is typically a bad idea and could result in what amounts to a financial death. As people still need to pay their taxes, this is another great career to pursue during the recession.
Federal Government
Federal employees very rarely lose their jobs during a recession; they usually do not leave until they retire. They are never laid off and the federal government is not closing down any time soon. The pay is usually a bit lower in the federal government sector but it is made up for in benefits and it is recession proof.
Education
Although education is not typically the highest paying career, it is recession proof for the most part, despite the fact that many state and federal budgets often feature cuts in the budget when it comes to education. Education is also a very rewarding career for many individuals, perhaps not monetarily, but from the perspective of doing something "good" with your life.
Utility Companies
People will always need some type of energy, they may cut back on other expenses and may even do their best to get their monthly energy bills under control but the reality is people will always need power. Power to light their homes, heat their homes, make their cars go.
Military Occupations
Another sad but true fact, in the United States, a well-equipped military will always be in place for our nation's security and for engagements around the globe. This makes careers in the military very recession-proof – and the benefits are quiet good as well.
