57DJ PA System - Sound Great. Make Money
If you are thinking about going into business as a DJ, your livelihood
is going to depend on the quality of your DJ PA system. If your system
doesn't function well or the sound is poor quality, you will not get as
many gigs as you would like. This means you won't be making anywhere
near the same profit as the other DJs who have made careful selection
of the components of their DJ PA systems.
You can stand to make
a lot of money as a DJ if your equipment is top quality and you have
advertised correctly. There are practically no end to the number of
events that could require a DJ, including weddings, wedding receptions,
proms, private parties, bar mitzvahs, corporate events and conventions,
and family reunions. With the right DJ PA system,
word of mouth will be your best form of advertisement. Friends will
tell their friends about the good sound quality that they enjoyed with
you. And the next time they need DJ service for their event, they will
think of you first.
The kind of equipment you buy depends on your personal preferences. You can buy an all-in-one DJ PA system
kit. Everything you need for a basic DJ gig is included in the kit.
Your other option is to hand pick each component of your DJ PA system
separately. This lets you select the exact components that you want.
A
good rule of thumb is that if you're just starting out, it's probably
best to go with an all-inclusive kit. Hand picking your own components
might be too overwhelming for a novice, and you might end up wasting
your money if you don't know what you want. As you learn more about
being a DJ and the equipment DJs use, you can always upgrade your
equipment as necessary. However, if you're an experienced DJ then it's
probably best to choose each component separately. You've probably
gained the expertise by now to select exactly what you want, and
getting a basic boxed DJ PA system would probably only frustrate you.
As
a DJ, the components you will need are an amplifier with a minimum of
400 watts, speakers with large magnets and an automatic kill switch, a
mic (think about whether you want to go wired or wireless here), a
mixer with plenty of inputs, and a turntable with a high-torque motor.
Always remember that the sound quality of your DJ PA system reflects on
your quality as a DJ!

Couldn't agree more, a decent quality system may cost more than an average peavey/mackie rig but the sound quality is amazing and you will reap the rewards of more gigs as well as not having to fix it as often because the expensive gear doesn't break!
