Red Itchy Penis and Ball Sack

So you’ve got yourself a red itchy penis and an itchy ball sack, it’s not pleasant, you’re tearing away at your old fella, making it worse, making it bleed, nobody wants this, your penis is getting redder and itchier by the minute, you almost want to cut it off, but not quite.

Why is my red itchy penis itching so much? You ask yourself, and that’s a very good question.

Latex Condoms

If you’ve been having safe sex using ‘latex’ condoms you may be suffering from a latex allergy, this is actually a fairly common ailment but a potentially fatal one none the less, if this is the case for you then it is recommended that you contact your Doctor.

Of course safe sex is important, and if it turns out that your red itchy penis and ball sack were caused by the use of latex condoms, then there are alternatives available to you.

Latex alternative condoms offered by ‘Trojan’ include the ‘Trojan Naturallamb’, this is a condom created from lamb intestine (nice), it is not however considered to be as effective as latex and does not protect against HIV or other sexually transmitted diseases. Trojan also makes a latex alternative condom made from ‘Polyurethane’ called ‘Avanti’ it is said to be twice as thin and strong as latex condoms and is nonporous and non-permeable and as such protects against all viruses including HIV.

Candida Albicans

Another reason for your red itchy penis and ball sack could be a ‘Candida Albicans’ infection. Candida Albicans is the same yeast that causes Thrush in women, it can be caught by having sexual relations with somebody with a yeast infection, caused by the spermicide used on some condoms, or through having a sweaty moist groin area.

Candida Albicans feasts on the sugars in your semen and precum that were intended for use by your sperm and flourishes, causing your red itchy penis and ball sack. A Candida Albicans infection can also be caused through the use of antibiotics, the use of antibiotics kills off the bacteria that would usually compete with the yeast for your nutrients.

How can I cure my red itchy penis and ball sack?

  • Shower every morning, paying special attention to cleaning the genital area thoroughly, and dry well after bathing.
  • Repeat the above following any rigorous activity or after becoming sweaty, be it sports, sex, whatever, shower thoroughly afterwards.
  • Wear clean underwear daily, and change if underwear becomes moist.
  • Anti-fungal creams should offer some relief, but it is always best to consult your pharmacist first.
  • Consult your Doctor.

Dag, mrvoodoo. I was in fear before reading this RACY titled hub was going to see an inflamed frank and beans staring back at me! I thought I had something like this when I went on a three-day camping expedition once but later found that it was just mosquitoes! Thanks for caring enough to share.

Hey dohn121, lol, I was going to post such a picture but thought that the red pepper pic might get the message across without causing any unnecessary vomiting.

Hey AsherKade, glad you got a laugh out of it, I think it's the repetition of the phrase 'Red itchy penis' that does make it kind of funny, although it wasn't really intended to be (well maybe a little) ;) lol.

Hey Mrvoodoo, great hub. I served in the army for quite some time. We were very aware of candida, which we affectionatly refered to as ball rot. As we spent a lot of time in the jungles of the tropics things in that area were constantly warm & moist. A method that we found to stop it occuring was quite simple, "commando" !! Well, we would sometimes need to last for over a week before we had enough water {or facilities} for a shower.

Commando allowes more air to flow around the parts & reduce some of the heat & moisture build up.

We also found that a liberal dose of anti fungal foot powder helps to ward off the dreaded ball rot.

Hey Paul, 'ball-rot' lol, yep that pretty much sums it up, not nice, I'd be hard pressed to choose between this and tooth ache, although preferably neither.

Going commando certainly sounds like the simplest way to avoid it, especially under the conditions you were in, although I do wonder if not being able to change your trousers frequently might have the same effect as not changing your underwear, but like you said I guess it's the additional air-flow that prevents it. Thanks for sharing some good advice, much appreciated. =)

Hey, thrush is a yeast infection of the mouth, commonly found in infants. Not just "women." Although it is candida just the same. I learned that heat rash is another common itchy ball sack cause, and Gold Bond medicated powder is a nice preventative measure. Of course, staying away from ladyboys might help too....

Hey DM, I didn't know 'Thrush' was a mouth infection also, I thought that was 'Herpes' or are they pretty much the same thing? Heat rash would definitely cause the old fella to get itchy, how do you know so much about itchy penises anyway?? lol ;)

p.s. I'll try my best to stay away from those ladyboys in future, hehe =)
