Are you planning a Memorial Day or Fourth of July cookout, or heading to a friend's barbeque? Why not take a fun, themed dessert with you? There are so many great recipes for red, white, and blue desserts. You could always make a simple trifile with vanilla pudding, whipped topping, crushed vanilla cookies, and a variety of blue and red berries like blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries. There's no real "recipe" for creating this dessert, just layer them in a trifle dish and serve!

But if you're looking for something a little more innovative, check out some of these recipes:

Fruit Dip

Jan's Layered Pudding Dessert

Henrietta's Dump Cake

Mixed Berry Shortcake

Red, White, and Blue Tart

Berry Dessert Nachos

Red, White, and Blue American Pie

Red, White, and Blue Cheesecake

Red, White, and Blue Ice Cream Sandwich Cake

Red, White, and Blue Cookies

Red, White, and Blue Fruit Terrine (Vegan)

You can also do easy things like use a flag cookie cutter to make sugar cookies, or ice them with vanilla frosting and top with red, white and blue sprinkles. Another idea that would be fun for kids to do is to dip pretzel rods in melted white chocolate and then roll them in patriotic-colored sprinkles.

Sometimes all it takes is a little ingenuity and you can take an everyday dessert and make it fit the theme of any holiday!
