Reduce Fat & Tummy
75My Experience
When I was newly married, I gained weight. Naturally my waist line increased along with it. My belt was two notches loose compared to when I was a bachelor. I was and still a beer enthusiast, so to speak. Friends told me that was the cause of my weight gain and increased waist line. Not only that, even a gym instructor agreed to that and offered to help me reduce all that within a month for a minimal fee. Not aware of the reasons why I became heavier and had a bigger tummy, I agreed to that. That time, I was still very much active in sports like basketball, ten-pins and ping-pong. Anyway, I presumed that it might not be enough because getting older might require me more exercise and gym activity. One thing was, I was eating more compared to that when I was a bachelor but never really indulged in food.
What happened?
Of course, we don't expect things pertaining to fat and to lose in an instant. I started the 30-day regimen under the direct supervision of the gym instructor. He gave no instructions to go on diet because I will need all the energy when I go the gym. No problem. My food and liquid intake was the same and it did not increase because of my added activity. On the first two weeks, I did not realize any improvement. It should come on the third on the third week. It never happened and I was still the same, probably just felt a little better. A little muscle developed in areas that got exercised but my weight and waist was still the same. I quit on the fourth week because the first three weeks did not nothing the instructor and I expected. The instructor shrugged and did not understand why. He did not charge me for anything. He just asked me questions on what I was doing, eating and drinking because it might help him in evaluating my case. Also, he would also know what steps to take in case he encounters someone like me.
I took it upon myself
Realizing that someone tried to help but failed, I took the matter upon myself. First, I reduced my beer intake and observed it for a couple of weeks. Still nothing happened. I still did regular push-ups and sit-ups that I knew would help. It strengthened my stomach muscles but it was still the same. My next option was to decrease my food intake by almost a third of my regular. I replaced it with water and liquids. It helped a little but was not significant.
It was getting more difficult for me to tie my shoes and bend over. As if I was always losing my breath or trying to catch it. It was becoming intolerable. In my mind, I detailed what really changed in my habits when I got married. It was only then that it dawned upon me that I was eating more rice than I used to. Cutting down on rice would probably make me hungrier more often but then I again used water or liquids to fill in for it. Believe it or not, it worked! In less than two weeks I was back to my former weight and I was using the regular notch on my belt. I really don't know the close equivalent of rice to other food staples but if you would know, it would definitely help those would want to reduce and flatten their tummy. Until now that is what I do whenever I start gaining on weight and waist. My stomach's capacity for food stored has adjusted to my intake. When I get hungry in between meals, soda crackers or bread with coffee or juice, solves the problem.

"Yes!" I know about dieting and key is more muscle mass which means the more you can eat!" "Muscle burns fat 24 hours a day but after working out the body burns only 6 hours after activity!" "To end, if you want to lose weight you have you to take less fuel (calories) and burn more then you take in!"

Thanks ESAHS! You're right. Probably I was an exception to the rule. I was improving with my muscles but it was not burning off my tummy fat. Could also be my metabolism.
