The inability to tolerate uncertainty plays a huge role in anxiety and worry. Chronic worriers can’t stand doubt or unpredictability. There are several reasons for people to experience stress. Some of them are family troubles, nervousness about the future, troubles with school, daily pressures and demands of managing a home and a heavy workload. These factors can bring about a number of conditions, including panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, or obsessive compulsive disorder. People also suffer from a number of phobias that can cause additional stress and anxiety, and in some cases, additional medical treatment is needed.

Panic attack disorder can occur for a number of reasons, as the daily routine of people's lives are different, and the things that may bother one person may not affect another negatively. Panic attack disorder is a condition in which people panic when they are forced to interact with others, or when they are placed in a stressful situation. For instance, one may experience anxiety when preparing for a job interview, and may get nervous when driving to the interview or while grooming themselves. However, a person with panic attack disorder may experience night sweats before the interview, or may shake uncontrollably when waiting to be called into an office for an interview.

Individuals with obsessive compulsive disorder experience stress and anxiety. They make sure that everything they use or touch is especially clean. Individuals with this condition wash their hands several times a day, and will not shake hands with others, touch doorknobs or car doors, and wash or sanitize certain items after each use. These people usually have a difficult time working with others or reaching other people. They are anxious about interactions with people because they are unsure about how to handle family and professional obligations.

Thinking about all the things that could go wrong doesn’t make life any more predictable. You may feel safer when you’re worrying, but it’s just an illusion. Focusing on worst-case scenarios won’t keep bad things from happening. It will only keep you from enjoying the good things you have in the present. So if you want to stop worrying, start by tackling your need for certainty and immediate answers.

To reduce anxiety with herbal remedies, there are a variety of different herbs and natural treatments that you can try. Note that you will want to speak to your doctor before starting any new self care regimen, and this includes herbal remedies. After all, just because herbal remedies are all natural, they can still cause side effects in some individuals. That said, read on to learn more about which herbal remedies are known reduce anxiety.

Things You Will Need

The herbal remedies discussed in this article include chamomile tea, valerian, gingko biloba, ginseng, fennel and feverfew.

Step 1 Chamomile tea is among the most pleasant smelling and tasting herbal remedies known to reduce anxiety and calm nerves. It is widely available not only in health food stores but also at most grocery stores.
Step 2 Valerian is an herbal remedy that many people take to reduce anxiety and stress and also to help them fall asleep if they suffer from insomnia. It is considered quite safe when taken as recommended. Most people take it right before they go to bed because it does not only calm you down; it makes you quite sleepy as well. Most people do not care for the potent taste, so rather than consuming it in tea form, they take it in capsule or pill form.
Step 3 Gingko biloba, an herbal remedy known for increasing mental sharpness and improving memory can also have a calming effect on some anxious people and a mood lifting effect on people who feel depressed.
Step 4 Ginseng is another effective herbal mood booster helpful for those who want to alleviate depression and reduce anxiety.
Step 5 Additional herbal remedies to reduce anxiety include fennel, which not only reduces anxiety but also helps with the digestive problems that so many people experience when they feel anxious. It helps reduce bloating and stomach pain and is best prepared as a tea.
Step 6 Feverfew is perhaps most famous for relieving headaches (including migraine headaches), but it is also among the herbal remedies known to reduce anxiety and stress symptoms.

Don’t take any of these herbal remedies and just assume that you will automatically be able to reduce anxiety right away. These natural treatments need to be combined with appropriate lifestyle changes for them to work to their full potential in your body, mind and spirit. In other words, herbal remedies to reduce anxiety need to be used in conjunction with proven stress reduction techniques such as meditation, Yoga, visualization and deep breathing exercises.

Anuloma Viloma - Yoga breathing exercice (Pranayama)

Reduce Stress and Anxiety by Breathing

The breath plays a major role in many cases of excess anxiety. During feelings of anxiety, the breath becomes shallow, rapid and constricted, which in turn reinforces our nervous system’s state of anxiety. When practicing pranayama, yogic breathing exercises, the nervous system is naturally calmed and soothed. With a regular practice we can learn how to consciously maintain a slow deep breath at all times to prevent and minimize excess states of anxiety. The practice of Dirga and Nadi Sodhana Pranayamas will be the most strongly calming to the body. If there is excess heat in the body, with symptoms of agitation, restlessness, impatience, craving, compulsions and poor sleep, then Sit Cari and Shitali pranayamas will be helpful as well.

This yoga breathing is an excellent and simple way to begin to reduce stess and anxiety. It is called Anuloma Viloma or Alternate Nostril Breathing. Even saying the word is relaxing. How to do this simple breathing?

Take your right thumb and close off your right nostril and inhale through your left. (make sure you keep your index and middle finger facing your palm) Then close off your left nostril with your right ring finger and exhale through your right. Now inhale through your right and close with your right thumb release your left nostril and exhale. This is considered one round. Repeat for another 8 to 12 rounds. Watch how your mind starts to view time and run to many different thoughts.

There are more advanced ways of practicing Anuloma Viloma but this is a great place to start and when you have got that down we can move on to Retention.
