Well I was working on a PC today that was overloaded with software. When i was trying to find software i installed on the system it was a pain. This awesome Registry Hack makes your ALL Programs list automatically alphabetized, making it way easy to find what your looking for.

1. Open Regedit
2. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
3. Right click MenuOrder and click permissions
4. Advanced
5. Uncheck the inhert box
6. *Security WARNING* click copy
7. Click ok
8. Back at Permissions make sure FULL CONTROL is checked
9. Reboot

Now all your programs will auto alphabetized. Cool huh. You will ahve to do this for each user, the kids, the dog and what not. You will need to reboot to make this work correctly.

For Vista its the same stopeds expect 5. Uncheck Include inhertiable Permissions...

Another Registry hack that improves proformence of ths system can be done easily. This hack turns of support for 8.3 filesnames.  Your chances of actually using this feature are very very slim.  I do it to all machines that people ask me to make faster.

1. Open Regedit
2. Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\FileSystem
3. Select NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation
4. Change the Value to 1
