You've spent some time research, and you've figured out that the problems you're having on your computer are being caused by glitches in your computers registry. OK, so that's step one of the issue, now to solve it. You don't need to bring your PC into a tech shop, there are software programs (registry cleaners) especially for this type of issue. They make the task a lot less daunting and allow anyone from a beginner to an expert to perform registry repairs on your computer in minimal time.

Now I don't want to go on about how you can edit your Windows registry manually using the built in registry editor in Windows. I know there's nothing exciting about that. Instead I'm going to help you discover what Registry Cleaners do and how you can choose one to use for your own PC.

There are likely over one hundred different registry cleaners on the market. They're all developed to do the same thing, repair registry errors and delete outdated and unneeded information. The down side is that like most products not all of these programs are of equal quality.

Running a System Scan

Registry repair software follows what I call a two or three step system. It all depends how much control you want over the cleaning and repair process how long it's going to take. The first step is always going to be a complete scan of your registry by the software. This will look for errors in the registry keys, out of date information and other items that look suspicious.

Any registry keys or values that are found to be old, not needed, or placed there by adware or spyware will be added to a list to either be repaired or removed.

Fixing the Items Found During the Registry Scan

Once the Registry cleaner has scanned your entire machine you likely have two options. The first is to manually go through the entire list and pick and choose which items you want to repair or delete, and which items you want left alone. This gives you a bit more control over what is repaired. This feature is best left to intermediate users.

The other way you can repair the items found during the full registry scan is to allow the registry cleaner to automatically repair the errors for you. This is the more likely approach for beginners. A word of caution about this though. If you're going to use the automatic repair feature be sure you backup your system files first. This can save you a ton of time and headache if things did happen to go wrong during the repair process.

Finding a Great Registry Cleaner

Spending some time up front doing research and reading registry cleaner reviews will give you the best chance of finding a good repair utility that will get the job done right. Try to limit the number of cleaners you consider so you don't over complicate things.
