Realizing Your Potential
There are a lot of people who have come to me to say "The Secret" doesn't work for me. I've tried to manifest (money, relationship, health, etc.) but to no avail, it seems not to work for me. There are people who want to make some amazing, positive, changes in their lives but truly have not been informed as to 'how'. This is where I come in.
I usually go over the critical 10 list with them, one by one, and we begin to sort out all that truly needs re-examining first. It's like going to a new restaurant: You need to look at their menu to know what to order. The same applies to the core menu within us. What have you been serving up all these years? Have you taken a look at your own menu?
The process toward adopting a new perception, a new reality, a new awareness comes with some work. Once the inner core is identified, new awareness sets in and a new way of living automatically kicks into gear. The Universal Spiritual Laws cannot help but help you. I have summarized the critical 10 for you.
The Critical 10
• Beliefs : What’s Your Pay-Off? Check: Are your beliefs based on truth? Reality? What beliefs are you holding that may not serve you to where you want to go now.
• Assumed Limitations & Faulty Assumptions: Usually related to your self-image and size of your vision. For example, I do "a" I will receive "b". How is that working for you?
• Blaming & Victims: Based on self-pity and gets people nowhere fast. Forgiveness is the only way to heal, feel a sense of freedom once more and you will be able to move on.
• Negative Payoffs:A negative payoff is a situation in which you say you want something to be different than it is, but consciously or subconsciously, you block the desired goal because there is a payoff in maintaining the status quo.
• Masks Or Acts: 1. What mask or act have you been utilizing? Many people have large walls up around them and think they will receive amazing benefits from not being true to themselves and others. What mask are you wearing? Victim? Martyr?
- Subtract something from their life: people, things, environment, challenge, et cetera. Get the person to be who they really are. This is transcendental change. Accepting what is in yourself is the beginning of transformation, because you can't change what you don't recognize. Masks are repressions, which is fear
• Incompatible Goals & Values: If your goals and values are not compatible, you will either subconsciously block yourself from achieving your goals or you'll change your values to make them consistent with your goals.
• Resistance To “What Is”: It is your resistance to “what is” that causes your suffering. Freedom lies in the acceptance of what is, for when you recognize and accept things as they are, you stop wasting mental or physical energy attempting to change what cannot be changed. That includes people, things, places, events.
• Mirroring: The positive or negative qualities you react to in others are a reflection of the same qualities within you. Other people are a mirror for you; if you are aware, you can learn from the mirror. If you see fear in someone else, you're recognizing fear within yourself. If you think someone is selfish and it bothers you, be aware there is selfishness within you. Any quality in another person that really bothers or attracts you, exists within yourself as well.
• Fear: Fear is a big word. As I remember Gary Busey's words "Fear stands for future energy anticipated real". I had to borrow his unique definition here. All disturbances between human beings, large or small, interpersonal or international, are rooted in fear. Fear means all the negative emotions such as anger, selfishness, jealousy, prejudice, hate, repression, envy, possessiveness, greed, anxiety, guilt, insecurity, depression, inhibitions, vanity, malice, resentment, blame, et cetera. The fears work against your spiritual evolution, and it can paralyze you, keeping you from acting when you need to act—keeping you from making a growth choice when it would be in your best interest. Something truly amazing happens once you tackle one fear at a time. Once you begin to do that which you fear, all other fears start to melt away.

This is exactly what I need to hear right now. Thank you
Your welcome!!!!!
I love that you said, "when you recognize and accept things as they are, you stop wasting mental or physical energy attempting to change what cannot be changed."
Gratitude is the key. I've also found that change comes easily from continuous positive visualization and mindset.
Yes Green Lotus! You're way is magical and whatever draws you toward that which you aspire to! Some people, I have found, are not truly desiring or wanting that which they desire/want. They say they visualize and stroke positive thoughts, but due to their fixed conditioning, or lack of flexibility, the old way seeps through and defeats their efforts. You know what I mean? Thank you for your comment! With love, Lilian
Great list Lilian, I'll study those. I've hit an impasse I'm not sure I can get out of. Maybe the list can push me forward.
thank you for the hub. fear is in everyone, we have to recognise it in ourselves and move beyond it. i know that this is true for me. fear is based on something which is not true.. not real... fear is cloudy.
thank you again,
Your welcome!!! It's amazing what happens after we do that 'thing' which we fear - the rest of your fears really slide away...I guess it's because we can see we are 'safe' after the fact and really swing open a new door of awareness. We kinda look 'back' and ask "why did I fear "x"?" You know what I mean?
Love the way it all works - live your life fully!!!! Why not?
Excellent - very well put! I like what you said about mirroring - that is so true - I have found myself thinking badly about someone's traits only to realize that I have that same trait.
Patti! I hear you! XO Thank you for your comment!
What an excellent Hub. I thouroughly enjoyed and learned from the read. I have only recently become your fan and I'm slowly going through your hubs. Terrific work.
Hey LillianEden,
I copied your 10 critical and reviewed them to my circumstances and it helped me define my fears and why I make the choices I do. I intend to let go of my fears and move on. Direction is still not defined. Lots of let downs probably because of my fear of not being good enough. Hangin' in there. Glad to be a fan.
Thank you all for your comments...Keep on keeping on Writeme ASmile!!! I say be gentle with yourself as you would be toward others - it's a process that takes time, so it's o.k....There is no race to be won - only re-connecting to the true, authentic you! Direction will be defined after you have defined who you truly are! How great is that!!!!
Thank you again for posting a comment,
With love to you all,
Lilian
Excellent hub. Nice summary. The more people who understand how the laws of attraction works, the better.
Religious people claim it's a religion of it's own, of the mind and body, but I disagree. The Laws of Attraction don't care whether you're atheist, Muslim or Christian or anything. When you pray, you ask for things. You wish for God to make things better for you. Whether it is God or not, it is besides the point. For often, if we focus on what we want, not what we 'don't' want, it will come to us. The Law of Attraction still applies, whether it be by the influence of God or not.
The Secret is inspirational. Has anyone seen 'What the Bleep?"
Hello Sarahamos91,
It's all in our language isn't it? It's so limited toward expressing that which is universal. Everyone has been introduced to 'these concepts' but identify it in different ways - be it through their faith, other practices, rituals etc. The 'Law of Attraction" is one way to identify that which is universal - To add, there are certain operating factors at work, whether we realize it in this description or not. It's what "what goes around comes around' means, for example. Many more people will understand this statement as opposed to flexibly see other definitions and not get hung up on the wording - per say.
Also, yes, asking for that which you want is through prayer - whether someone believes in a 'God' or not. I think many more have whispered to themselves a begging for better circumstances in their lives. So again, it's all in the language and concepts used or not used. Either way, the core of all activity is the same - just different forums.
I want to add "we pray for that which we want to have happen in our lives and we meditate (become silent and listen within) to receive the miracles, the answers, the way.
Thanks for dropping by (!) and for your comments....With love,
Lilian
Excellent! Definitely, we attract whatever we want.
Thank-You so much for writing this. I have totally gotten into the law of attraction, and The Secret. But the way you worded this is different, and done well. I am always screaming at my boyfriend (baby daddy :) )about not talking to people in a nice enough tone of voice. I am always scared to death that he will hurt someone's feelings. The part you put about recognizing fear in someone else, only because you have fear yourself....It makes sense now. It's why I can always spot it (fear) and he can't- he doesn't have it...just me. Thanks again for this, it will definitely be one that people will read over and over until it sinks in. I'm your new fan! Keep writing, I am excited to go read your other stuff now!
Excellent! Definitely, we attract whatever we want.
Hello Miss Markayla!
Thank you for your comments! One of the ways I go about understanding my world, or perceive the world, is understanding that what's within comes through 'out there'. We create our situations, events, and so on. So, it would make sense right?
Saying: When the teacher is ready the student will come, when the student is ready the teacher will come...That's how we grow!
Have a great day!
Blessings,
Lilian
Very nice .
Exact an to the point .
The best part for me is FEAR
which seems created by the torturous parents an then instilled within the parameters of religion which to me is
the most difficult to overcome.
Than you for your post .
Cheers Dirtdog
Thank you Dirtdog for your comments!
By the sound of it, I much like yourself, have been brought up with not one religious view but 2 different religious thoughts and philosophies. I'm not against any of it but I can tell you I was filled with Dogma. Confused filled with fear, all taught.
We are born into this world given a name, then told what we can or cannot do, then we go to school and are taught what to memorize and so on. But, one day I stopped to explore 'who I truly was'. How can we really understand our true essence with all the external noise? I don't go into the 'blame' game nor 'victimhood' only a chance to re-examine, re-explore, re-discover who the 'true' me really is! It's been good so far!
Wishing you all the best along your journey!
Much love,
Lilian
good points. most of what I've seen about the secret (not much admittedly) struck me as being a load of nonsense, but what you say here seems to make a lot of sense.
Very interesting realistic assessment of ways to make positive changes in one's day to day living.
Thank you I will try to remember your critical 10 list.

Realistic assessment...Yes, I guess if you see it this way, it is! Thank you for your comments!
Blessings,
Lilian
All the very best for you along your journey in this life time! XX
Hello LilianEden
Wonderful hub and well summarised. Thank you. Even though I have made MASSIVE changes in my life, I still need reminding about mirroring!
Someone once said to me that we need to "watch our stories" - those tales that might anchor us in the past. So true.
Yes sarahamos91 I have seen "What the Bleep" a couple of times and each time I find new meaning. Thanks for reminding me of it.
Hello travelespresso!!!!
Yes, mirroring can also be a very positive thing!!!! Focusing on completing cycles in life and seeing who comes into your life can say much about how much you have grown! Amazing right? So, it's good for 'clean-up' purposes, strengthening purposes and celebrations!
Thank you for your comment travelespresso!!!!
Much love to you and be proud of how far you've come!

I just wanted to say that I love every hub you have! You are an inspiration to me!
I love the mirroring part. I never knew that what I hate in others reflects what's in me too. I remember an old Filipino saying, "Galit sa magnanakaw ang kapwa magnanakaw" ("The thief is angry at his fellow thief."). Great hub, though I think you should reduce the bold-faced words. :P
Hello again Lilian!!!
Thank you for your thought provoking comments. You are so very right about mirroring being positive too. I have tended to think of it in a more negative context. Yes, I am VERY proud of the life changes I have made. It's awesome. I'll be back to drop in on your other hubs.
Really, I was appreciative of this article because I find naming what is troubling me as kind of a healing effect.
Thanks!
Your welcome! Thanks for your comments! Blessings and much love sent your way! Lilian
Thank you verymuch for the hub. "Mirroring: The positive or negative qualities you react to in others are a reflection of the same qualities within you" It will help to see the good in others
After going through the last two weeks in agony and terrible anger over a failed relationship (absolute abandonment--just walked away, no contact for the past 10 months to learn what actually happened two weeks ago) I realize intellectually where I'm at, but my emotions and heart are still a complete mess. I've done a lot of studying--Eckhard Tolle, A Course in Miracles, etc.,--and I, as you, was told what to believe in religion, and about 4 years ago melted down in the loneliness and emptiness, found silence, found stillness, and found something wonderful I can't even describe.
It's too easy to lose touch with that. And fear is the basis for all my self-damning habits, to be sure.
Oddly your hub caught me on a morning where I let go of the death grip on fear and anger, and is helping to bring a little sanity back. Just wanted to say thank you for that. I've noticed you here and there in the community, and I'm grateful for you and others like you. I feel I'm a beginner, but I am a sincere student of metaphysical and spiritual life.
Again, Lilian, my thanks.
Dearest Daniel,
Our stories are so similar! (I wrote about it in my latest book "A Mandala Of Awakening: A Medium's Life In Transition- The Truth Behind The Magic").
Pain is pain is pain regardless of how it comes (circumstances)...It also is obvious to me that you specifically had to experience "an awakening" many others do not get the chance to experience: Different reasons why, but that's another hub.
I say having the amazing opportunity to have someone who 'caused us pain' give us the most precious gift of growth/transformation is priceless!!! We can't get those lessons from any books! Right?
I am so happy for you and road you are traveling upon! Exciting! Daniel, you have been given the chance to still the water so you can see deeper, clearer, and with more understanding! Our lives, before the transformational period, was like being surrounded by wavy waters - how could we really see what's what?
Thank you for sharing!
Blessings and much love goes out to you on your amazing path/journey!
Lilian
