Balancing

"Balancing Life”

By: Nmbr2pencil

The longer we reside upon this soil, the more we begin to ask ourselves; when have we become so logical that we’ve stopped making sense. Religion is not a black and white still picture, but a multicolored piece of art. As all arts have their critics so does religion. As a ‘multicolored’ painting, religion is not exempt from having its darker shades and colors. All religions consist of ideas from normal everyday people, and since it is accurate to say that no human is perfect, then neither can be any religion.

Why dedicate your life to something as uncertain as religion? As it stands, even though all religious books promote peace, religion is the focal point in which most ideas of war seemingly originate. By war, it makes little sagacity for one to try and prove the path he or she has chosen if it requires one to diverge unto a road of hypocrisy and contradiction. Religions are seen by many as philosophies manifesting on innocent blood of martyrs and civilians. The cunning cluster of ken and science see those who follow religion as an ignorant lot, following, the finest form of oppression, a never ending path of destruction and devastation. But these people, although very intelligent, are too logical and prefer to stay within the boundaries to which the physical life limits us. To disregard religion shows that their minds eye has not developed enough to see the brighter colors of this colossal painting.

The real problem with religion is that people expect too much from it. People expect the ‘true’ religion to create a sort of utopia, but that is rarely the case. To the logical person, one may view it this way; believing in religion is, in a sense, a win-win situation. To a believer of religion, if atheism was correct, there would be no heaven but also no hell and therefore the believer does not take the risk of suffering. However, if the believer was correct, he or she would go to heaven and the disbeliever to hell. It’s better to be safe than sorry. Religion also creates an unwritten contract to morals, and establishes the difference between justice and prejudice. Religion generates incentives to giving charity, gaining humbleness, and granting equality.

The epitomes of all religions confluence to answer three puzzling connected questions; what was, is, and will be of me? Different religions mean different answers, different answers usualy means someone is lying. Yet, has it ever been thought that maybe no one is lying? That answers may vary, and the answers one chooses to those three questions are only as true as he or she chooses to follow them. Only I choose what was, am, and will ever be of my words, my actions, my life, and I. The moment that everyone has realized this for themselves the sooner they can gain the perfections of their own religions.

The mind is truly inseparable of the soul, and the soul indivisible from the brain. The dilemma occurs when one is preferred over the other. The balance is lost, causing instability in the essence of life. All logic and no faith makes a dull man; all faith and no logic makes a fool. I have chosen the path of religion, yet I hold no grudge to one who has chosen another, has not yet chosen, or chooses to stay neutral. My path was not chosen to conform, to please another, nor was it chosen so I may pride myself upon my differences or similarities. But I found a balance in life. It was simply this, and this is all it ever will be.
