By Hello, hello,

I know religion is a very delicate subject and I hope I get my view across without offending anybody.

As far as I can understand, every religion preaches love, especially love, honesty, do not kill, love thy neighbour and so forth.

First of all, to me, you should live according to what the religion taught you because that is the idea. I saw many people go into the churches, temple, mosque and synagogues and pray most sincerely. I don't want to dispute that. The point I am making now is that when they come out and they should do what was taught, many people do the opposite. To me that is not the idea of having or following any religion.

Then there are people, mostly men, who get so involved in their religion they get completely cast in and only shout or repeat the religion without thinking for a moment they gone down the wrong path. They get determined and force the religion into whatever, which is totally wrong. Eventually, they see everybody who is not their religion, as their enemy. This is completely wrong because every religion preaches love and love thy neighbour which also means tolerance of the other person's belief and custom.

Again, I like to point out that I am not pointing at any religion in particular. My religion I was born in is just as bad in that respect or be more precise the followers.  They also think and say they are the true religion. How can anybody say and believe that, in its right mind. No one can expect all the people will follow the religion you are preaching.  Also nobody knows which is the true religion, we all believe in a superior whatever it is called.

A last point I like to make is that too much blood has been spilt and too many hearts were broken because of religion. Surely that can't be the idea. We should and have to learn from history of which is plenty about. So really listen to your religion what it really preaches; Love and love thy neighbour and hope upon hope we will find peace.

if you did not think your religion was the truth you would change it i suppose.... some religions refuse to go to war, but people hate that also.... can't win..... A thought provoking hub indeed

You really expressed yourself well on such a delicate subject. I agree that it's important to really delve into you beliefs, and see if it really "practices what it preaches."

I agree, actions speak louder than preaches. People around you will see your actions first then what you believe in.

Wonderful and straight to the point hub, thank you for sharing :)

Hello, UPStar, thank you for your visit. I wouldn't want anyone to stop their belief. That wasn't the idea. All I am saying was to put it into practice more. Thank you for your praise and I am glad you enjoyed it.

Hi HH;

Nice hub. I agree with you. I'm a Buddhist and we are completely non-violent. So I concur that there should never be blood connected to religion. It should bring hope and comfort, not anger and fear.
