Religion and what it realy means
65What is religion?
Religion is a group of people who believe the same thing with no real evidence to support that belief. I'm not saying that religion is a bad thing, on the contrary I think that religion is a very good thing that is executed very poorly. Every religion claims to be the one and only true belief system and all have something or another to support that claim. If you ask me, which nobody has, it's not the religion that matters at all but the message behind it. All of the major religions basically break down to two common factors. The first being that as human beings we should all be good to one another, to treat them the way that we wish to be treated. The second is as simple as trying our best not to mess up to much. If we could do these two simple things our world would not be in the state that it is. Can you imagine living in a place where everyone around you is looking out for what is best for everyone else and where you are in fact doing the exact same thing for them? Our problems would disappear, but sadly this is not possible. I can not see the reason why we argue and fight over something that can never be proven and that really doesn't matter. If you're wrong about what happens when you're dead it doesn't really effect your life. Who cares what happens when we die? What truly matters is what we do with our life while we are still here on earth. Aside from that, nobody really knows what happens. You're guess is as good as mine, as far as we know God could be an alien and all the religions are the same thing only explained differently to different people so that they could better comprehend the true message. The message is what it is all about in the end. To love others as you love yourself, to give when you can, to take only what you need, to help those you can, and to be grateful for all that you receive. That is the true meaning of religion in my eyes and I think that the world would be a better place if more people saw it that way.
The trueth behind religion
The truth about religion that no one wants you to know is that there is money in faith. If they just said that one religion is just as good as another you wouldn't show up on Sunday morning and put your money in the collection plate. I'm not saying that all churches are out for money and there are a lot of them that use the money collected to help those in need. What I am talking about is something entirely different, have you seen these ministers of the Lord who are driving brand new cars, live in expensive houses, and have you seen the Vatican? These people are taking from those who felt in their hearts that they needed to contribute something to the greater good and their spiritual advisers have seen fit to line their own pockets. Do you really think that these people are trying to save your soul from eternal damnation? They could care less if you stray from the flock because there are a hundred more sheep lined up outside just waiting to fill your seat and their pockets. They not only have taken what was given to God for the poor but they have ensighted wars. Would a kind and loving God want to see His loyal followers killing and plundering those who had not been told about Him in His name. These are not the acts that I read about Jesus doing. Jesus offered his hand in friendship and voiced what he thought was right. Jesus didn't kill, maim, and torture in his fathers name. More blood has been shed in the name of God than for any other reason in the history of the world and I refuse to believe that this is what God intended us to do. It didn't take long after Jesus' death for his teachings to be perverted, the bible has been edited to fit what they want you to hear and what they want you to believe so much that it's impossible to know what the truth is. Then you have to look at all the translations that it has gone through. Even if you can set all that aside, look at the title of your bible. It clearly says the King James version of the Holy Bible. It says the word version in the title. We as human beings need to stop relying so much on what we think we know and how we can prove it and start practicing the lessons that were given to us. It doesn't matter if they are mans words or Gods words, the fact of the matter is that the message is a good one and if followed life would be worth living for us all.

I appreciate your comment and yes I don't deny the near death experience although I do personaly know people who have died and been brought back only to say that they saw nothing at all and that it was like falling asleep. Plus you can not discount the fact that maybe what happens after we die is completly up to us i.e. what ever you think is going to happen is what happens. how do you explain past life regression if there is no reincarnation.
Maybe ou should study Buddhism for a while ;)
Personally I phrase my feelings aboyut religion as follows: there's nothing wrong with Believing, Religion is what's bad. Faith in Allah, God or Jahweh is fine. Just as soon as some hierarchy of people is involved to channel that belief, that's where things go wrong.
Thank you for the time you took to leave this comment. I appreciate your views and I have indeed studied Buddhism if only briefly.
I won't try to convert you, as I'm not religious myself, but what I have read is very much in line with what you describe.
I appreciate your view of non conversion. I don't think that converting someone to a religion is appropriate in any way shape or form. You should listen to what their religion has to offer and incorerate the messages that you agree with into your own personal beliefs. I myself do not subscribe to any one religion but consider myself to be very spiritual in nature. Thank you again for taking the time to share your views with us and I hope that you continue to do so in the future.
If I feel I have something positive to contribute I will most certainly do, Agro Donkey :)
Way to be.
On religion, we are in nearly complete agreement. Especially that the basic message in all are the same: be good, don't be bad. How much simpler could it be? It's always people on a power trip that manage to twist anything good into a force of great evil.
Don't forget greedy CWB. If all religions are the same then who would pay for those big houses and new cars? Besides the Pope needs that big hat and all those gold trinkets.

Seek and you shall find. There is much to study in the way of near-death experiences, and for some people like Daniel Ekechukwu, they have actually died and came back - all with very simiar experiences. Anyway, that's what your hub made me think of. I was blown away by a documentary on Daniel Ekechukwu, he was dead for several days, embalmed even, and he came back claiming he had seen both heavan and hell. Check it out!
