Religious Artifacts Indiana Jones Might Want to Find
73
Indiana Jones has become a prominent figure in American iconography. The character has been in four movies now but countless spoofs have been made of him from Wierd Al to Veggie Tales. He's not one to kick back and rest on his laurels so what will he go after next? Here are some things he might try.
1) Noah's ark - It was supposed to have landed in the mountains of Ararrat. A lot of people have looked for it through the ages and some have even claimed to have found it. What if someone wanted to find it to see if there was any hidden knowledge on it they could use to control animals to take over the world? That would be right up Indie's alley.
2) The entrance to the Garden of Eden - There are many places this is said to be. Most traditions say it was in the middle east, specifically, Iraq. But there are other traditions that place it elsewhere. It is rumored to be in Africa, parts of asia, and even as far away as the Americas. The reason for finding it could be to keep bad guys away from either the tree of knowledge or the flaming sword held by the angel guarding the entrance.
3) The Robe of Jesus - It was supposed to have been seamless and will heal anyone who touches it. Imagine what sort of nasty biological weapons you could release without any fear of getting sick yourself if you had this object. Professor Jones would absolutely have to stop this from getting into the hands of the bad guys. It is rumored to be kept in the Cathedral of Trier in Germany.
4) The Seal of Solomon - This relic is said to have the ability to imprison demons and gave Solomon the power to command them. That would be a very bad thing in the hands of bad guys. According to legends it was swallowed by a fish once, maybe Indiana could find it in the sea.
5) Pandora's box - This is a bad, bad, bad thing. If the bad guys could let out troubles and close the lid again before hope got out then they could have their way with things. Of course, Indie would have to re-open in and let out hope. But where to find it? The gods of Mount Olympus knew it's location, maybe he could find a clue there to point him in the right direction.
6) The Book of Thoth - This one is well hidden because it contained spells that were dangerous to the gods themselves, a must have for any bad guy trying to take over the world. It's in Egypt in the city of the dead. It's supposed to be locked in a gold box locked in a silver box locked in an ivory and ebony box locked in a sycamore box locked in a bronze box locked in an iron box. That's a lot of keys for our hero to find, but, hey, if he can find the ark of the covenant and all the clues that led to the holy grail some mere keys shouldn't be too much of a problem.
7) The Caduceus - This artifact is supposed to have healing properties which is why its symbol is used in the medical world today. If some land grabbing dictator with delusions of taking over the world was diagnosed with a fatal disease he might try and hunt it up. It would be up to Doctor Jones to find it first. He could look on the Arabian penninsula where it was used by the Israelites in the desert when they were set on by poisonous vipers. Or he could go back to Mount Olympus since it was rumored to have been owned by Hermes, the messenger god.
There are, of course, many other artifacts of myth and legend out there that our tenacious hero could hunt down to keep out of the hands of bad guys. There's the golden fleece, spear of destiny, seven league boots or even excalibur. Which one will he hunt up next? Who knows.

nice hub
Yeah, a few more pictures on this hub wouldn't hurt, but I like your ideas just fine. I'm sure Indie would enjoy looking for many of them. Don't forget Montezuma's treasure!

Neat idea for a hub! I wonder if Google images has any pictures you could use (drawings, artists' renditions, etc.) to illustrate this story? Also, didn't Michael Wood (historian on British TV) look for some of these? There might be some clips on YouTube that you could add, too. . . welcome to HubPages -- hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
